When I first went to my GP complaining of voices he gave me ambien for my insomnia. Then my first pdoc gave me Seroquel because the ambien didn't do anything except make me trip!

First MI drug: low dose of Celexa. Did nothing to or for me either way, as I recall, but my recall is pretty poor. First BP drug was Lamictal.

I want to say Zoloft but that was sooooo long ago (I was only 14). When my symptoms came back in 2012 after being med free for six years, we started with celexa and abilify. One or the combo made me mixed as hell and I ended up hospitalized. It took me a long time to find the right combo. Currently I am stable on latuda monotherapy. I'm glad I'm down to just one med. I wish I could go off of it and see how I do but I'm too scared.

Klonopin many years ago, when it was new and considered a 'wonder drug.' Back then, no one knew how addictive Klonopin is.

Zoloft my GP gave it to me along with .25mg xanax. the zoloft turned me in to a raging lunatic. I was then referred to my first pdoc. this was about 16 years ago.

I can't remember what antidepressant it was, but it made me homicidal. That put me in the hospital for the first time.

Zoloft. That turned into a nightmare....especially when they decided to bring it back in combo with my mood stabilizers. No more SSRI's for me, no matter what, because of the mania risk.

Effexor was the first medication I was prescribed. I was only being treated for depression back then. I hadn't been diagnosed as bipolar back then. It really sucked to get off of it.

Zoloft at 12 years old. Back when doctors didn't yet know what was really wrong with me. Had to get off it because it made me extremely suicidal.

I started out with Prozac, I was diagnosed with only depression at the time. I gained 35 lbs. in short order, and went off it.

My first bipolar med was Lamictal, which I started over five years ago. Who knew I'd need a total of six psych meds to keep me stable. Sometimes that boggles my mind.

I also started with Prozac when I was 12, because my psychiatrist and therapist thought I was just depressed and anxious. The small dose he gave me wasn't effective, but then when we increased the dose I became extremely manic and psychotic, and suicidal. I went through a myriad of diagnoses before they actually realized it was bipolar and put me on a mood stabilizer, though looking back it should've been quite obvious.
