I called my case worker to figure out my insurance situation and the only thing I'm covered for is birth control basically. My husband makes too much for me to qualify for full coverage but we can't afford insurance. She gave the name for a place for mental health that I guess can work with people on pricing but I still can't afford to go. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm not doing too good right now and I can't even get help. I thought about going in to the walk in clinic but I'm afraid they'll send me to crisis. I can't do that as I can't afford it and I'd also have no one to watch my kids and my husband would have to miss work and we can't afford for him to miss work. I hate this so much.

I hate that too and I'm so sorry you're going through that. The current state of our healthcare system is such a joke and it's literally putting people in danger. Could you maybe try looking into local charities (churches do a lot), or even start a crowdfund? There are also online resources that aren't as expensive (such as Better Help and 7 Cups - if you contact them they have sliding scale pay for low income people). Wishing you luck and healing. <3
And everyone who can should call their representatives and demand single payer! |

We've tried cutting stuff out but it's all small stuff that didn't really make a huge difference. We have student loans and our rent and car payment and insurance and other debt and phone bill. We can't get rid of Internet because where we live our phone doesn't get service so the wifi keeps my phone working here. Oh and then food, I have 4 kids. We have rearrange our budget and it's still not enough to afford insurance.

Oh ok. I'd go to the walk in place if I wasn't afraid of them making me stay. I definitely can't afford to stay and I also can't even afford continued visits. Before when I had insurance I seen my T every week and my pdoc every month.

Don't tell them you're suicidal and they won't hold you.

Shantel, I've been thinking about Treevoice's recommendation of the crowdfund avenue. I've never used GoFundMe or anything like that, but if you were to create an account that your friends and family could chip in a little bit to and then share on social media, it might net you enough to get an appointment with the professional of your choice. You wouldn't have to say exactly what the nature of your illness was, just a general request.
I don't know if a single appointment would be enough for you, but it might be a helpful start. bioChE has a good point I would like to reiterate: Don't tell them you're suicidal. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

In my college town, there was a mental health organization for musicians that worked with local psychiatrists and therapists to help with medical costs. It was only $20 to see a psychiatrist with their help. Maybe there's an organization like that near you?
