Not sure if this is a side effect of high dosage of Abilify and saphris given after a manic episode? Have decreased slightly to see if it makes a difference. Anyone else had this problem. Really fed up.

Yes I got akathisia on abilify. Horrible restlessness. I got it on geodon too. It's a common side effect of antipsychotics. You need to contact your doctor. He/she may decrease the dosage or give you something like cogentin to combat the side effects.

How long does this take to go away?

What happens taking cogentin? Does it make you feel good straight away?

Me, too. My old pdoc had me on 30mg (the max dose). My new pdoc wants me down to 5 mg. I have shaking in my left hand due to the high dose I was on, & still get restless at times (though I don't know if it's solely due to the abilify). I've never been on cogentin, so can't help you there.

Cogentin helps pretty immediately for me. If you choose to go off the medication the symptoms should subside in a couple of days as the drug leaves your system.

I had akesesia from Abilify, took three days for the worst of it to be gone, but around 8 days for it to be completely out of my system. Had to go to the hospital for 6 days. The sad thing is that it worked almost immediately and perfectly for helping with my bipolar disorder. I might end up going on it again at a tiny dose of lamictal doesn't pan out.

I just started low dose Saphris at night and getting restful sleep and wake up alert. It's a shame it is so expensive. Anyway, it sounds like you are all over the abilify as the likely culprit and I thought I would just chip in that in my research on Saphris, titrating up too quickly seemed to be when people had trouble and even then the incidence seems low. Primary complain is price. So it seems unlikely that it plays into your problem. Could be, but unlikely IMO.

I didn't get restlessness on Ability but I did on Latuda. Cogentin didn't work so I'm now on Artane. I also had my Latuda dose lowered. It seems to be okay now.
