So when posting on another forum I thought of klonopin. Ever since my pdoc took me off of it I have been going less and less to the gym and now find myself over a month and haven't gone.

I believe the problem is anxiety, as a million reasons not to go pop up, but I haven't had any of the physical symptoms. Gabapentin has reduced my physical symptoms to nil, but I still have a million thoughts. Should I ask new pdoc for klonopin or another benzo??

If you have become less functional since stopping klonopin and it caused you no problems while on it, I don't see why not.

I would talk about how in the past klonopin helped you out. Let him suggest prescribing it again. If you see a pdoc for the first time and ask for a benzo it may seem like drug seeking. YMMV`

What does that stand for I've seen it before. YMMV?

Do you guys think gaba and klonopin are a good combo? I asked my old p doc and she wouldn't prescribe klonopin again because I was on ambien. Now I'm in an iop and have their pdoc. He is aware I'm on ambien .

I take gabapentin and klonopin. They work on the same receptors so I use less klonopin now than I used to and once I am stable again I'll start going off the klonopin as gabapentin works well enough for me I don't think I need it. My pcod plans a 2 year taper but says I will have it a little easier because the gabapentin and clozapine have made it so that I don't take klonopin (or gabapentin for that matter) in the day and so my body is used to my level dropping and then going back up. Apparently it is easier to taper off that than a consisent blood level of klonopin.

I would not flat out ask as it would come across as possible drug seeking. There are numerous Benzos that a Poc might consider on there own.

Glad your getting help

It's getting more difficult to obtain benzos from your pdoc. That's a shame since it's likely the only thing that helps some folks. Fortunately my pdoc is not one of them. I switch out Xanax, klonopin and Valium (not all at once). It's the only thing that touches my anxiety.

Jennifer 1967, is there a reason you switch out the three meds and don't stay with one?

I've been on Klonopin for over 20 years and have been totally committed to going off it. Unfortunately, my anxiety is so extreme that it's causing me to be physically ill. Now I'm wondering if I should go along with my pdoc's suggestion to increase my Klonopin. Anxiety is such a b itch.

That's interesting. I guess it just shows how different people respond to meds. I have been on Klonopin pretty consistently since I was diagnosed about 10 years ago. I was never consistent with taking it though - I could take it for months then decide I didn't want to, and stop taking it just fine. I also always took less than what I was prescribed because of my "fear" about it. But honestly, when I took the full amount as prescribed, I was so much better. Klonopin makes my mind feel "clear", helps me with my random, racing thoughts, calms me at night so I can actually sleep (if I don't fight sleep). Other meds lose effectiveness over time, or I stop them, then start them again and they make me terrible. Klonopin has been the only drug that has consistently helped my anxiety and some of my manic symptoms, when I take it.

Hi boogiesmash. This is my 1st post here but I'd like to put my 2 cents in.I came right out and asked my pdr. for a benzo. She gave me klonopin 1/2 mg a day as needed.I also take 5mg of ambiem which she cut back from 10mg.Now most drs can look in your pharmacy to see what you take thanks to the CDC.I was taking Vicodin(a narcotic pain med) & she saw that & said no.When I stopped them she was OK.I wasn't concerned about what she thought.I can't keep my mouth shut & thought what can she say but no.I'm glad I did ask. Good luck & I hope you get them.

I take clonazepam daily but I give it enough time to leave my system before I take more. When I don't have anxiety I won't take it for days with no adverse side effects.
