It warms my heart to know your BIL helped you out with a car!

We have a vehicle repair garage in this area, where they do some (if not all) highly discounted/free repairs for people in need. (They also take "donated" vehicles -- up to 10 yrs old -- fix them and redistribute them at low-to-no cost to people in need of reliable transportation.) It's an amazing program!

I hope you are having a good day!

Thank you so much, WC

That garage sounds amazing!! There should be places like that in every town and city.

Of course they can find out. Whew. I wouldn't take ANY kind of chance with trying to cheat the system, most especially not in today's high-tech world.

I'm too poor to own a vehicle, so I ride Transit. I actually prefer this to driving. I hated driving. No one can blame me if there is an accident.

I was only in 2 of them when I did drive. Both were blamed upon me, though in one case it was a surprise snow squall that hit suddenly and in the other, I came out of a driveway, crossed the median, turned into the far lane and was tail ended by someone. I got blamed for it, because the officer said I made an illegal U-turn! I made no U-turn at all. He obviously did not see where I had come from. He just assumed. You know what the first 3 letters of the word "assume" are, right? LOL...

No worries, Laurie...I understand exactly what you meant to write, but I feel the use of the term "cheat the system" is incorrect. I worked for many years, had a good job, and paid my fair share in Federal taxes. My ability to keep my moods straight failed me to the point that I went through 7 jobs in 4 years.

I smoked for 35 years & quit in 2014 (I quit drinking over a decade ago). I used the purchase of the new car as an added incentive to stay stopped. For decades I was smoking three to three & a half cartons a week - which, by the end of my smoking career, amounted to about $170 a month...the exact amount of my car payment. If I start smoking again, the car goes back to the bank.

Anyways, I'm sorry I just ranted (& it certainly wasn't directed at you!), but there was an article in the Washington Post today that detailed peoples' attitudes about folks with MI being on disability, & the government's attempts to slash funding. It's just an open wound today. I'll attach the article in case others want to get ticked off:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/class...=.16799b0ee549

Again, Laurie, I understand what you meant to write & I'm sorry I wrote my "editorial" in the event that I hurt you.

2017 Genesis G80-love it. Bless my wife, she has been so stressed from a manic episode I had earlier this year that when I told her bout the car she began crying. She thought it meant I was getting manic again.

2011 Hyundai Getz. Don't know if you get them in the US. It is a cheap, reliable car. Two door so very small. Easy to get parking spaces.

Hand-me-down 2005 VW Jetta. Gets me to where I need to go (usually grocery shopping for my grandparents and doctors appointments), but it's falling apart inside (top of the center arm rest broke off, sun visor broke off, glove box is literally gorilla taped shut) and needs work, it seems, all the time. But, new tires and a fresh oil change has it running okay for now. Will need a new starter or belt or something soon though. Don't know which. The guys at Sears and Jiffy Lube seem to disagree as to which it is.

2013 Ford Focus ST. It's my own personal go kart. It's fast well over 600HP. I also park like a mile away from everybody lol.

I love driving it actually helps my bipolar, especially the depression.
