How do you respond to severe anxiety or fear? I freeze. My brain completely shuts down and I can barely keep up with a simple conversation. Sucks!

Anxiety makes my brain head toward shutdown, and even to the point of feeling like I might faint...and then saying anything to anyone about that or even just wondering whether I need to dial 911 before I do faint (if nobody else knows what is going on) can make the overall problem worse. So whenever anxiety does hit, I immediately sit if I am not already sitting and then close my eyes and try to take a few deep breaths.

I get paralyzed with severe anxiety and fear. I also get desperate to make it stop. It's easier to deal with my depression then it is my anxiety.

When triggered generally I freeze but I am known to fight pretty hard and run for the hills too. Another not so well known category is to 'fawn' (try to get the approval or attention of a powerful person). I also do that sometimes.

All. Unhealthiest for me: freezing. I just go numb and make the wrong choices. I won't remove myself from toxic situations/people and dissociate.

I fight. I start using coping skills ....warm bath, mellow music or watch a funny show. I use to watch Golden Girls on Hulu. It's a funny show and it would help my anxiety go away. I've watched every episode and have now found another funny show.

I do all of them, choosing one based upon the situation.

Sometimes, I just calmly and firmly stand my ground.

I start crying and shaking.

then the embarrassing part.. people will ask me about it, and i'll start saying stuff that makes no sense- stuff that probably would do if I took the time to word it correctly, but at the present moment means nothing.

then after that I try to change the subject, and hold off on what's making me anxious for as long as possible
