I have some concern that I may have caused my persistent brain fog from almost daily drug use in my teens. I tapered off to being an occasional user in my 20s, stopped using illegal drugs completely around age 30 and got the brain fog before age 35, and there were some years when I didn't use drugs before I got the fog. I still wonder, though.

I get brain fog almost daily and I blame it on my meds or just being bipolar in general.

I haven't had a single minute without the fog in ~25 years. When I said persistent I wasn't exaggerating.

I was just talking to my t about it today. I am feeling like I am getting about as close to stable as I have been in ~25 years, as far as the bipolar ups and downs go. That makes the fog stand out as the bigger problem. She thinks derealization but is also pushing me to see a neurologist. I see pdoc next week and will get her opinion.

And here is something really stupid on my part; if it were legal here (it's not) I would be at the store tomorrow. I have not smoked any in over 25 years and I am still jonesing for it.

Patience, my friend. Soon it'll be legal everywhere.

So why don't they de-legitimatize caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine? They all affect the brain's neurotransmitters too...just saying...

I said I would be at the store tomorrow if it were legal here. I am not sure I should be though. Me, personally I mean. I agree it should be legal and my choice. If I could be a reasonable person like I was in my late 20s and early 30s and only use occasionally then it would be fine. In the last several years I have not been as reasonable with my substance use.

This study proves absolutely nothing. A few anecdotal accounts and lots of speculation do not a scientific discovery make. Correlation does not equal causation.

Even if this study has some truth to it.....all it's saying is that a small percentage of people can respond badly to cannabis. Just like a certain part of the population can go into a diabetic coma from eating sugar or die from eating a nut. People are going to be allergic to things but that doesn't mean they aren't useful and helpful to many others.

The fact that cannabis is the most abused substance with people who have bipolar disorder might be because it's actually therapeutic to people with the disorder.......I find that statement to be questionable. I bet alcohol is the most frequently abused by far due to cost and availability. Alcohol is a million times worse.....it's brain damage in a bottle. But, When you are in enough pain, you will do whatever you can to calm those storms. Cannabis is pretty benign for most people and safer than alcohol by far. It's a safer alternative and should be available legally. Relief shouldn't be a criminal offense.

With all things there are risks, whether people can see them or not. Cannabis has some risks just like any other medicine we take. Antidepressants can cause suicide but people keep risking it.

I hope REAL studies can be conducted from an unbiased group of scientists someday. I would like to know everything about the plant......the good, bad, ugly, warts and all.

Nobody is forcing the people who can't handle it to use it, nor should those it works for be made to suffer or do without because some people have a bad reaction.

I tried it on my fibro pain , yes I got a few hours of relief ? Or maybe I was too busy eating to notice the pain? Lol

It's just not my thing tbh.

But hey if it works for some then yay !
