While I was manic I did some despicable things. Illegal, immoral AND unethical. I am scared to death that I could go manic again. My question is do you know when you are going manic, or are in a manic state? I didn't recognize it because it was my first time. Do any of you KNOW when it is happening???

So, you would probably recognize it next time. Tell a good friend/family member your worries and promise yourself you'll heed their warnings if you are afraid you won't recognize it yourself yet? At least now you "know" what it is and can do.

I think I can tell by my racing thoughts and a want to accomplish too much.Stess and a lack of sleep usually are an indicator as well.
When Im full blown hypo though I dont want to stop it,even though I know there will be consequences.

While I am bi-polar II and don't suffer full blown mania, I can tell when I am beginning to cycle into a hypo-manic state. Generally, I stop sleeping, my thought race, either I don't eat or I eat a ton, I feel really great, and get alot accomplished. Normally, you will find that it will start out great! You will wish that initial feeling could last forever, but then you will begin to spiral out of control. I would deffinently speak with my psychiatrist and find a good couselor to help you being to identify your signs. In addition, our friends and family always notice our changes in our behavior before we do! So ask them to talk with you, if they notice any changes and agree to listen and be polite when then do talk with you! Hopefully you are getting on some good meds, so you will have even less to worry about.
