Hi again. Well, I'm two or three weeks on Latuda and I think it's helping the mood a bit. Only problem is the akathisia has kicked in. If I take it too early the akathisia actually wakes me up in the middle of the night. That sucks b/c with the food requirement I was hoping to take Latuda with dinner, but that's too early. So the options appear to be either wake up with restlessness that keeps me up for an hour or more or eat a late snack and likely end up gaining weight

You could take it with a granola bar. It's small, doesn't have a lot of calories. Pick the plain ones or the flavor glavor plavor or you like. When I was hospitalized they gave me a granola bar to take the with it. Small snacks and you can also work out to defend aginst the weight gain. Sugar smart fan land ran bed. I hope that helps.
Thanks for this!

Good for you! Glad you've been able not only to give lurasidone a shot, but also to stick it out for a few weeks and not panic and drop it at the first sign of discomfort.

That is, far be it from me to push anyone into taking more meds just for its own sake, but I think it's extremely important to be an informed consumer and to try to seek relief if you and pdoc agree that a new med might help.

Good luck.

Well, the end result is I'm stopping the Latuda. I've had a bit of akathisia since starting it, which was tolerable. But then we tried upping the dose yesterday and by last night I felt like cutting my legs off to make the crawling feeling go away. I pounded down 3 klonopins and thankfully fell asleep. And the Latuda has been evicted from the pillbox. Thanks for all the support. I'm back with the doc soon and we'll see what the next move is.

Good work. You tried it, it wasn't for you, you put it down. No fears, no worries, and now you know.

For better or for worse, that's about the only way I know how to approach a new med. Be as informed as you can, give it a fair trial, and quit taking it if it hurts more than it helps.

What do you think you may want to try next?
Thanks for this!
