Hey--I probably wasn't part of this group long enough for anyone to notice I was gone but now I'm back. Things haven't been going well this year. My mom had a cancer scare and had major surgery a few months ago but luckily recovered. I took a little time to take care of her and got pretty distracted at work which affected my performance. I ended up getting laid off a few weeks ago and then when I was going to a networking event I ended up getting in a car accident and totaling my car. I'm hoping I can keep my mood stable under circumstances since I have no health insurance for now.
I've been reading a lot and since I tried to start a reading group on here thought I'd bring up the books others might be interested in. One is "Lost Marbles:Insights into my life with depression & bipolar" by Natasha Tracy. Some of you might know her from her Bipolar Burble blog. You can get it on Amazon but unfortunately not a lot of libraries carry it so it's probably not the best book to read as a group. The other book which I just started is "Insane Consequences:How the Mental Health Industry Fails the Mentally Ill" by DJ Jaffe. He tries to emphasize how many violent offenders are mentally ill and thinks that the mental health industry ignores the most seriously mentally ill. He's a rather controversial guy so it would probably start a good debate though not sure yet if I would recommend it or not. |

Quote:
welcome back yes I remember you and it's good to see you starting up the book club again (though I have to admit that the last book I read was probably what ever the last one you posted aboutwas my focus for reading is shot. I really want to finish the lemony snicket series (a series of unfortunate events), but just no focus. so you're reading a book by a guy called DJ Jaffe he sounds like he should be a radio personality. not an author |
