During my worst depression ever, a friend said to me "I like you. Even if you are sad...".
It made me feel better because he didn't try to cheer me up or make me feel like I had to be okay. He enjoyed talking to me, fuucked up mood and all.

Recently a coworker said to me "you have an answer for everything!" when I came up with an example to answer a student's question. I thought she was being sarcastic but she was actually being sincere, and said she can always count on me to come up with an answer or example to clarify a student's misconceptions at a moments notice. That was nice to hear.

For no reason at all my 34 year old daughter said," I love you"

There's a newer guy I've been trying to help out at my recovery group. He said, "You really don't know how much I appreciate you being my friend." It took me a long time to think of that one; I just realized that I block out the positive & magnify the negative statements I hear.

When I got my blood work last week the phlebotomist (who I have been seeing regularly for years now) said I was strong.
In group Tuesday the counselors said I was "inspirational" because how I keep persevering through all this ********.

Now that I'm better, I've lost weight, groom better, dress better. A coworker this week said, "I gotta say, you look WONDERFUL! I'm not sure what it is, but you do."

I think the birds outside gave me a compliment—just by hanging out in my yard. I feed the birds. I saw one of the squirrels run up a chair to get a drink out of the bird bath (I put a plastic wicker chair there to make it easier for the birds to land.

That made me so happy

My therapist once told me I was one of the 2 most courageous people he had ever known. I think about that a lot.

My oh so grown up, independent daughter randomly calls me up at different times of the day and night and says “I love you momma”. It feels like a hug and I smile.

Someone once told me I was just like my Mom. And that was a big compliment to me because my Mother is the best person in the world.

My teenage son said that he rates a girls attractiveness based on how I look. He said I'm a ten and thats how he rates all other girls. But they're never as beautiful as me. I thought he was joking but he wasn't. made my day.
