When I don't properly sleep, usually because I've stayed up too late, I cannot focus or anything without tears the next day, even if I have slept a full 8 hours anyway.
Anyone else get this?

I get this when I am very depressed and/or deeply grieving.

Are you depressed and/or grieving?

I am sorry you are going through this. I hope you find relief.

I eat too much without good sleep--that is my first symptom. I know mania is a big risk for me from not enough sleep. My quetiapine knocks me flat out, so I don't get out of check on this.

Yep, this is quite common. That's why they call it sleep hygiene

Our bodies like a rhythm and consistency. If I stay up really late and past my bedtime, I'm a useless hunk of liver next day, no matter no matter how long I slept.

Going to bed every night at the same time and waking up every morning and getting moving is one of the best ways to help your bipolar at bay

I went back to sleep immediately after this and had terribly uncomfortable dreams of having to rely on my ex and her awful friends for help. My pillow is soaked where I apparently cried throughout my dreams. I can't imagine why I would dream that. I also must have been feeling for my wedding ring, because it looks like I dug my thumbnail into my ring finger where it used to be during sleep. I have a very sore but small crusty scab there now. I find I feel for it more lately while awake anyway, yet I don't miss her. I just miss the ring. Weird. Stupid brain. Stop it!

I struggle still but try to keep routine with sleeping/waking up. It's harder with being on vacation. I'm sleeping on the couch and have to wait til they all

I've been sleeping on the floor over two months now. I'll be vacationing by sleeping in my truck. I sleep on the floor ok, but I honestly need that vacation, permanently

sleep hygiene is just 1 of those peaces of terminology I can not get my head round.

I mean why call it sleep hygiene
it's not like sleep can take a shower or something. lol.

if it could, mine would probably need one, and fast

lol

Do you feel better after a good shower?

I still look at myself as fat and ugly.
I think we're all much more critical of ourselves than we need to be. Relax, nobody's fully satisfied with how they look. Accept that you're perfect, no matter your appearance. Attractiveness is in the heart and mind foremost.

Sleep is a challenge for me, especially when I have to be somewhere early the next day, which is often the case for work. I take Seroquel, but sometimes the sedation doesn't wear off until later in the day, so I wake up cranky.... even if I get 8 hours. That can lead me to experience some tearfulness and anxiety. This is definitely something I need to work on. It's one of the biggest challenges with having Bipolar. When sleep is off, it throws everything off.

That helps me too. Trying to be vigilant about it. Otherwise my brain doesn’t function the next day and I will be crying at my desk.

I am super vigilant about getting adequate sleep. When I don’t, I’m just grumpy and irritable the next day. I have headaches and red dry eyes and feel like ****. Not exactly Miss Congeniality.

I think this time of year my body fights sleep because it thinks there's more sunlight out there somewhere. I sit by the windows or go outside to get as much as I can during the daylight.
I've been using M.Hirsuta several nights now. It's a plant that helps me sleep. I cannot say you should use it, but it is helping me while the 600 mg of immediate release Seroquel isn't doing its job at all. I know the Seroquel isn't working because an hour after I take it I'm still wide awake. When the Seroquel is working, it's usually 30 minutes max that I have to wait.
