Ive been down for a solid month now. I don't know if I should just ride it out or call my pdoc and have him try to treat me. I'm afraid if I wait too long I'm going to get bad enough to have to go to the hospital again. I'm also afraid if I go to the pdoc he's going to add an antidepressant and/or increase my clozapine (I have been paranoid and aggitated). The antidepressant will probably send me manic or mixed, and the increase in clozapine will probably make me lose my job because I slept for 18 hours straight through my alarm.

My past depressions just went away by itself after a few weeks, but that was years ago when I was rapid cycling and I spent a few weeks depressed, a few weeks manic, a few weeks depressed, and repeat. I'm not rapid cycling anymore and I feel like this episode will persist on and on until I do something about it.

Could you contact your pdoc and tell him about your depression but also voice your concerns?

anything you can do right now, like address (or at least identify...) psychosocial factors or...something? I'm not big on antidepressants, either.

The depression started when I took up a second job that made my schedule chaotic and affected my sleep (waking up at 3am during the week and going to bed at midnight on weekends). I thought it would go away after I left the second job (well, got fired) and my schedule returned to normal but the depression is persisting. This time of year is always rough on me anyways.

I see my doctor in three weeks and Ill explain to him what's been going on and what I refuse to do. I don't want to call to get an earlier appointment so I can go in and basically say I'm depressed and paranoid but I don't want you to treat it.

If I were you I’d call my doc and let him decide what to do. It’s perfectly fine to let him know about your concerns if he suggests a path you don’t want to go down. Three weeks is a long time to wait for some resolution and/or forward progress.

Inform your Pdoc and hopefully you can head off this depression before it lingers who knows for how long.
