Can your ideas get you hospitalized?

I live in Canada where the laws about involuntary hospitalization are completely different than the US. In particular you have no statutory right to see a judge.

All it takes is two psychiatrist to agree to commit you for a month. Then they can go for longer periods of time up to 6 months at a time. You have a right to go to a review board but this is not a legal proceeding and you have very little rights. They are deferrential to the psychiatrists. I have had neighbors making complaints about me for years and have been hauled off many times for an involuntary psychiatric evaluation. I can't count how many times police have been to my house to check on my mental status. Over 100 times.

If you do get before a judge because of delays in the court system it could easily take a year to see one.

I have a regular psychiatrist and I trust him. However I don't trust anyone else. Even with him this fear of being grabbed from my house or my back yard or wherever I am and put in involuntary confinement typically for 3 or 4 weeks is just terrifying. I live in constant fear of this.

Being able to see a judge right away and having a high bar to confine someone is a real treasure in the US system.

I was just thinking, i have been hospitalized saying in the petition that i wasnt on my meds when I was. They didnt say sorry and still took me to court. They must lie when they say they are checking your med levels even though they take alot of it.

And as usual no one spoke to me about a court date or recieving an attorney. In court they treat you unconstitutionly anyway. They didnt even offer an attourney 2years ago was the first time i asked to go to court with them and found out even if you get out on a -3day which the doc has to approve at this hospital they still take you to court but with you not there.
I have never been a danger to myself or others and they said that i was in the petition. They didnt prove beyond a reason of a doubt that i was still the judge found me guilty and as i said treated me as a slave to the hospital and wouldnt allow me to approach the bench. And also as i said the hospital personell sat on The bench the whole time lied on the stand. I vouge i said from that day forward i will see to it the end of the constitution.

The judge was given the wrong petition i heard him under his breath reading. Than what I was given anyway. And I don't have a direct advocate the petition was not read out loud in the court room either.:' I told the hospital to remove my direct advocate she's my petitioner.

Rose is correct it is really very hard to get a bed in USA for just thinking about suicide. Talk to your T that's the only way they can effectively help you, if you are honest with them.

Here where I live all someone has to do is tell a lie. Than they can say anything they want in a petition. What you can do is ask for someone to petition you have them call ;911. Anyway I tried to petition someone to get off drugs and they turned him down but it wasn't after a 911call.

I landed my first IP when I was 18 because of my damn journal. My dad found it and showed it to pdocs and they said it was suicidal ideation and graphic. So my dad signed a petition. Wtf ever. When I got out, i tossed all my journals in the fireplace. Years of poetry and memories turned to ash. Not sure if I was sad or relieved. 12 years later, I’m still terrified to journal in fear I’ll get in trouble again. I try to start writing and I end up freaking out and destroying it.

Same here I have no privacy every time I start to write my petitioner takes it, the wyandotte Michigan police believe in their system of petition and they believe in my mom the petitioner. I had a lock on the door the police ripped the handle off my door trespassing into my room. 2 Februarys ago. Just now getting out of bed from illegal meds that aren't far approved. Followed by six officers when I was just sitting in my bed putting me in handcuffs for getting out of bed and then saying I was not complying. All because the petitioner wanted the last words in argument she started me arguing with her the whole time behind my closed door I'm scared of her. Im scared of the system at large she goes in my room without a care, throws things around and runs around calling me and my children nasty.

Almost just spit out my dinner here... I’ve been to Wyandotte IP 3 times now. I love it there. Always groups all day so time flies. And I used to get the room with the tub. So nice lol. I live right down the street off fort. But the IP for my writing was at Taylor Oakwood, now Beaumont. That place sucked bad and they made me sit by the front desk in a chair for hours so they could watch me. It was horrible.
