I don't but have a strong urge to start. I think it will mello me out more. Just can't get any so I never do start. I would think that the mello part would help with BP.

I’ve tried marijuana once and it put me to sleep. Best wishes to those folks that it helps. I just like having more energy, not less.

My pdoc mentioned it at my last appointment, then said "oh, I'm just kidding".

He was defiinitely NOT kidding!!!! I didn't think it was good for depression, but my pdoc seems to think it is

Back in my hay day, I was going through a coupla ounces a week, though I hear that it is a lot more potent these days. I was also smoking with people, but sometimes smoking theirs, sometimes mine.

This one:
The Relationship between Bipolar Disorder and Cannabis Use in Daily Life: An Experience Sampling Study

reports it both ways. There were more positive experiences than negative, but there were enough negative that the risk of a negative experience isn't insignificant. But the thing is, if you were to try it and got a negative result you can just stop.

I smoke everyday but try to keep it to evenings also. I like that I can get a pretty good night's rest without taking sleeping pills.

I have very negative effects if I was to use. Can't stand up and also get severely paranoid. Chemicals effect each individual differently. I know it's not for me.

Depends on which of the dozens of studies you read...most are not peer reviewed or approved...and many of them use subject self-reporting to collect data...

It's virtually legal here - a medical marijuana state - but the laws are so easy to get around that anyone can get a MJ card. That said, I don't smoke. I did in my younger days & tended to abuse it. The weed may have changed, but I haven't.

I would if I had access to it. It helped my PTSD a lot. Also helped with sleep.

It is legal where I live and there is a huge variety available in terms of strength, and even a half decent selection nowadays of cultivars with either full CBD and minimal THC, or a blend at different ratios from 3:1 to 1:1 to 1:3. There are also vaping and edible products which allow finer dosage control.

CBD is an extremely interesting substance. By itself it causes little to no high or major mental effect, but it can be very good for physical discomfort of almost any kind, for med withdrawal and withdrawal from addictive drugs, and for anxiety. I'm a very skeptical and scientific person. I don't tend to believe that random herbs I take are curing me for example. But CBD seems to hit some sort of master switch for discomfort. You may still feel whatever was bothering you, but your mind wanders away from the unpleasant sensation much more easily and for much longer.

CBD also alters the high from the THC in marijuana, greatly reducing anxiety and paranoia for many people, and making the high less activating. As somebody who has smoked a lot of weed in my life and who can be sensitive to it, I would describe the high from a 1:1 ratio to be "pillowy" and easygoing.

Recreationally I do not allow myself to smoke before 7pm. Some days though I get into a state I call "deadlock" where I am anxious and irritable about not getting anything done but I cannot make myself do anything to save my life. It's terrible. Eventually on those days I give up and smoke a little, fairly low THC and high CBD. My mood very often improves and I'm able to do some stuff. And due to the low THC I am not super high. However, it still messes with my short term memory so if I've smoked myself out of deadlock, I'm going to stick to different kinds of tasks that don't need memory on point as much.

Cannabis is a drug just like any other, no matter what the hippies say. It often has benefits and it always has costs. People who experience depression do need to be cautious.

Also, CBD is a CYP2D6 inhibitor and will likely increase the effects of meds which are processed by that liver enzyme. So, people who want to take it must be careful of that.

Thank you Camino! I never knew what CBD was but always saw when buying my joints.

I cant lie, I love the effects of feeling high on my brain, but Im sick of being dizzy like 10 hours later as its so strong. I may give CBD a look. Im not on meds due to stomach issues, but happy to say weed is very effective for me with FML depression, but when I get clinically depressed its counter-productive so I just try to stay out of the dumpster as much as possible.

That's for sure. Back in my youth, the lower quality pot we had was the only thing I could do a lot of. Hash under glass? I could feel it on the first hit; 2 hits and I was done for the night. My understanding is that today's pot is almost as strong as the green Lebanese hash of my day. I take the pediatric dose of saphris and only once daily instead of twice; 100 mg of lamictal is plenty, 225 mg of wellbutrin and 60 mg of straterra. These are all low numbers; I am a lightweight (well, actually I am overweight but you get what I mean). It contributed to my problem with prescription pain killers and stimulants; I was buzzing pretty good on middlin' strength meds.

I take a low dose of psych meds too. (That is why I am often on the edge of mania. ) But anything else makes me too dull.

Pot relaxes me in a safe(r) way. I don't like to take benzos.

Daily smoker here. Usually on the way to work. On the way home from Work. Throughout the evening. I don’t get paranoid. It helps keep me calm and stem intrusive thoughts. I write software for a living, and I find it easier to concentrate and to find ways around problems when I’ve had a toke or two. Literally 1 or 2. Pot has always been a bit of a crutch for me. Call it self-medicating.

I agree. I am self-medicating. I have cut way down on alcohol. I don't smoke cigarettes, and I am trying not to overeat, (a bit hard with weed!) but I like to smoke in the evenings and just let my mind be free.
