So I was a mess this past weekend over an xmas holiday party. I eyeballed at iop and felt better discussing it. When I️ returned to work, my supervisor said I need to stop taking these mid afternoon evacuations and another coworker said thanks. Hence I️ was mixed with depression and anger. So much I took a walk and he complained that I’m no long in my seat again. So I called out yesterday and apparently the drama continued. Another coworker who went through an addiction program yelled that I screw people over by taking my sick time (I use four hours of sick 9-1 every other Monday). Another yelled that I screwed him by calling out. And apparently another (same one who said I’m no longer 8n my seat, has been having closed door discussion which I’m assuming is about me how my supervisor stated that).

After I learned all this my informant coworker said she was approached by our union president who works opposite days to contact a union counselor for protection. I️ am so fn furious about this. I feel like I️ should sue the f uck out of this place.

So much for me going to this xmas party.

Yep, of your union, talk to your union rep. If you haven't already, get fmla paperwork turned on. I'm on intermittent fmla, I've used all but 80 hours of my 450...they can't screw me over on my absences even if they wanted. All I have to do is call in fmla for the day...tgey can't say a word or disapline me

Still can’t sleep. Feeling edgy, anxious and very pissed off. I guess this will be a new issue to deal with in iop. Hopefully this union guy can figuratively smack the **** out of my co workers and end this hostility. Maybe I can also get him to have me stay in dayshift.

Oh god... I hate when people say "just get over it".

I'm sorry she said that to you. That's incredibly ignorant and disrespectful, especially considering you got along with each other.

Oh she didn’t say it to me. She said it to her friend that I should just get over it. Like yup I’ve made the constant choice to be suicidal depressed anxious and stay in bed for weeks. Sigh.

Any lawyers out there??

Hi Boogie,

How often are you calling in sick to work? I am curious because I too have had (and still am having) trouble with good work attendance and it can be beneficial to look at it from the manager and fellow co-worker's perspective as well. The fact is, employers are looking for reliable employees and it should not be an odd request to expect regular attendance. When an employee misses many days (like I have at past jobs), it affects the bosses and co-workers in a negative way. People have to do more work to make up for that absence. It makes sense that there would be some negative feelings towards a co-worker who calls in sick or is unable to do their job efficiently, even if they have legitimate reasons for doing so.

That being said, I am not saying that their rude comments to you were the right way to go about things. But I would urge you to look at this job and ask yourself a couple of things:

1. Am I able to attend my job regularly, and stay for the duration of my shift?
2. Am I able to do the work efficiently?

If there is any doubt in either of those questions, it may be time to look at shorter hours, or even a different job that brings less stress.
Thanks for this!

I work 12 hour shifts and use the time every other Monday but it’s only for four hours.

And to answer number two. Monday I was too heated to work after my supervisor made that comment (stop evacuating mid afternoon) and the other guy saying thanks.
