Hi, I haven't been here in awhile. That's because on only 50mg of lamictal I was feeling really good. At first I was feeling really really good - not manic just excited about life, motivated, lots of energy, sleeping less etc. Then I guess I leveled out to what I imagine is 'normal.' Then more recently I've slumped into low grade depression, which has made me consider increasing my dose (maybe the 'feeling better' was more of a side effect that has since worn off?). I was already feeling the worst I've felt in months today and then we find out our health insurance costs are going to increase over 700% starting jan 1 - which would literally be half of my extremely modest monthly paycheck (thanks trump). I'm really stressed out about this. There are 3 medications I depend on. I also just started physical therapy for a problem I've had for over a decade and now I will have to discontinue. I feel so angry and hopeless about the situation. My husband and I work so so hard, and for what? There's no way to get ahead in this life when some have so much and everyone else has so little.

sorry for the rant, I'm just feeling kind of paralyzed

Do you know that there are many programs that offer assistance with paying for meds? Sometimes sponsored by the pharmaceutical company, sometimes by the pharmacy. Somewhere on this site there is information about med assistance programs, also you can ask your pharmacist.

I understand, at least to some degree. Our insurance premiums and deductibles are sky high. It's tough to afford care. If the local health organization did not allow budget plans, we'd be up the creek entirely.

Add to that the super high costs of some meds.

It's all very stressful.

Rx Outreach | Patient Assistance Program, Discount Prescription Drugs provides a lot of generics are heavily reduced prices. I used them a lot when I was uninsured. One of my meds then was $100/month in the pharmacy but $35/3 months with the program.

I also get name brand meds through patient assistance programs. You apply through their websites and the meds are free when approved. Even if you aren't 100% eligible on paper they will very often make exceptions if you write a letter explaining why you can't pay $500/month for one med or whatever.

That's horrible! They are doing everything they can to screw us with health care because we're just lazy--or we'd be rich--and only they deserve it. As for Lamictal I take 200mg and I don't think that's an unusual dose. But I never found it did much for me. I think the Wellbutrin I take is what prevents depression for me.
