I am recently diagnosed, bipolar 2. Been only a couple of months since official diagnosis. I have seen a couple of therapists, before finding one to give me proper answers for the reasons I've felt this way. And why I wasn't improving at all. I was on the wrong medication, and I had not my full diagnosis.

Now, I have the proper medicine and diagnosis. But I am going through a rough patch right now. I keep forgetting my medicine, no matter how hard I try. I do fine for awhile, but then I miss two or three doses and feel terrible. They are in liquid form, instead of pill form. Since I can't take pills because of other health issues. Is there a way to help this?

I've also been looking for good groups or resources that I can use on my computer, phone, or maybe support groups I can find in person. I am struggling to find any of the above. I would greatly, greatly appreciate any help; since I'm unable to do this on my own.

I am also a stay at home mom with a toddler, so I could use some people to talk to and someone to be there for me while I try to work through this bipolar. And try to figure out how to cope with it daily.

I'm just really struggling right now.

Thank you so much.

I would suggest getting an alarm for medications. They can really help.

I would forget medication regularly if I didn’t set up alerts in my phone.
In my area there are soft support call centres, crisis lines and BP drop in support groups. I actually found it all through google. You’ll also find lots of support here. Keep posting and good luck.

I’m sorry you are struggling. I have the same diagnosis. Setting an alarm sounds like a good idea to remember taking your medicine. We’re here to support you so please post as often as you need to. PM me if you need to talk. Sending big hugs.

Have you looked into NAMI or DBSA near you? Both organizations run support groups for people with mental illness. NAMI also runs educational groups for people who want to understand their illness better. It’s a great organization.

There's really good book that introduces to bipolar. I like it because it has a humorous slant. It's called "welcome to the jungle"

I agree setting an alarm on you phone is great idea.

PsychEducation | Treating the Mood Spectrum is a great place to learn about bp. It's written by a psychiatrist who specializes in bipolar and is really well done.

I am in the same boat as you though a little shorter on the time since diagnosis. It took me a while to find someone that helped out and got some of my ducks in a row. Just figured I'd pop in and say you're not alone!

Welcome to PC. Post as much as you need. You will find a lot of support here. Getting a new diognosis is scary so give yourself time to process it and get into a healthy routine. Meds can be important so I agree with setting alarms to remind you or getting a pill box so you can see if you have taken them or not. I tend to set my morning meds out in the evening so I take them and later in the day when I think of it I get my evening meds out. This has helped me.

I wish you all the best.

I suggest that you use an alarm clock to time your doses. The medicine only helps if it is in your system. Is there some way you can schedule your drugs so that you take them before your kid wakes up, or after he goes to bed in the evening?

I was diagnosed with BP1 post partum and I found that the Internet connections really helped me cope. We're here for you.

Welcome Mrs.Butterfly,

well you've received lots of practical advise. It can be depressing all by itself to get a BP diagnosis, but many people do well and live full lives. I hope you see better days soon.

Welcome to PC! You are not alone.
This place has helped me a great deal. One tip: (might work for you---or not),
I found moodtracker.com to be a good place to track my moods and keep a private journal. There is even a section where you can check off whether you took your meds or not to see if there's any patterns or "warning signs." Just a thought. I agree with the above, setting alarms help. I struggle with remembering sometimes. I never forget my Seroquel, or I can't sleep. Certain pills though, like Gabapentin 3x daily or Lamictal 2x daily gets me mixed up, when you're taking multiple prescriptions per day though.
