A couple of days ago, I started hearing music and sounds in my right ear only. My therapist said they were auditory hallucinations. Now I think I'm hearing voices because I was woken up last night by a man's laughter in my left ear. I wonder if that's a hallucination too because my dad said it wasn't him... and there are no other men who live in this household.

My therapist told me to find distractions, but it's hard to do that when you're trying to sleep. What can I do to cope? I've been getting a normal amount of sleep, so I don't know what this crap is.

Did your pdoc give you anything to help with the hallucinations? Or have you only talked to your therapist about this?

Left a voicemail for my pdoc because he wasn't working. He's also leaving the practice, so he's transitioning out while at the same time starting a new job. He has no nurse.

I don't want to do an "emergency call" to contact him because it's $40

I left the voicemail yesterday

No. I only have one antipsychotic -- Rexulti -- and that's one that I take on a daily basis.

I probably need a higher dose, but that's not going to happen until my pdoc returns my voicemail

I also recently started rexulti at 0.5 mg and now am at 1 mg... going to 2 mg after a week, but I have got olanzapine too.

I think the hallucinations waking up or falling asleep (hypnagogic) are in a different category than wakeful hallucinations and are less worrisome. I've had these in the past and they really freaked me out because of their power during an altered state of consciousness, worse than a bad dream that I can't shake off.

So sorry! That's terrible. I can actually relate a lot to the symptoms that you are experiencing now. I hope that you feel better soon and that your pdoc helps you address this asap. Does any actual sleep music help bring things down a notch, like something you can find on youtube? Everyone is different, but music seems to help some people manage the auditory hallucinations (oddly enough, even when someone is experiencing musical hallucinations), although of course they are still there.

I think it's very important for your pdoc to address this, and I hope you get the help you need very soon, whether it be through a med change or by any other means. In my case, the pdoc upped my AP. This takes time.

I took Haldol temporarily when I had auditory hallucinations. When the auditory hallucinations got better and seemed to have stopped for a while, I went of the Haldol again and they were gone. It was the med that stopped them.

i deal with hallucinations seems like all the time, its just how my brain reacts to being over stressed for any reason.

I do alot of fact checking and self grounding.. What grounding skills do you use?
