Hello everyone,

Today was my first therapy appt. I heard good things about the person I’m assigned to. We started off by feeding the squirrels. Then he asked how my holidays were. I talked about Christmas....there was a little drama. Then he asked if I had a support system. I told him a little but I mostly come here for support. He thought the site was nice to have. Then he asked about my New Year’s. I told him me and my youngest daughter spent it watching movies. There were times when it was silence and it was like neither of us knew what to talk about. I asked him about sun lamps. He had one in his office and showed it to me. I will see him again in three weeks. I guess I should take notes on what’s going on in my life so I can have something to talk about. My memory is so terrible because of Lithium. I can not remember last week if I don’t write it down.

It sounds like it went well! It's definitely a good idea to keep notes in between sessions... lamictal fries my memory (which was already bad...lol) so after every session, I write down what happened, what we talked about, etc. and review that before my next session. I also take notes between sessions when I think of something that I want to talk about, and I read that before my next session so I can remember.

It does seem it went well. I also take notes semi constantly, and make lists for what to talk about, but not just with my therapist.
Thanks for this!

Thank you all. I will start noting this weekend. Like Nocalove said I’m sure we will develop a relationship as we go.

Sounds like a good start. It can be awkward to have a conversations sometimes, but it will get better with time. I still have moments with my T and I've known him for six years.
Thanks for this!

"testing" you?

Whether he was lying or not, that still seems like it goes against therapist ethics. I would not want a therapist like that.

He's very weird. He's also right up in my ____ when I'm not doing things the right way. He's cussed in there far more than I have (that's a LOT) but I gave him full permission to do anything he thinks can help me because I'll take whatever I can get. Testing me, we'll see about that. I forgot to ask what for.
