My grandmother hasn't been doing well. She hasn't slept in over two days.

Yesterday, we brought her to the hospital because she was experiencing severe psychosis that was worse than we've ever seen. The ER doctors ran a bunch of medical tests to rule out any medical conditions that could be contributing to the increase in psychosis. Nothing. They sent her home and did nothing.

When we got home, she was actually fine and calm, but within 10 minutes, the psychosis was even worse than it was before. So we had to rush her to a different hospital that actually had a psych ward at 5pm, and she was finally admitted at 2am today after being awake for idk how long.

We saw her in the hospital today and the drs said she didn't sleep at all last night. She's been awake for more than two days straight.

She was hunched over and leaning forward as she walked, which is something we've never seen before. And her psychosis was so bad that she wasn't interpreting any of her surroundings correctly. She kept thinking walls were doors ("no, no! that's not a wall. see? that's a door!") and everything she saw freaked her out. She also kept thinking her mother was alive and that she had to go cook for her.

All in all, she looked miserable. Depressed. I felt so bad for her. And 3 hours after we left, she was so tired that she fell face forward on the ground, hitting the side of her face on the floor. She must've been so tired that she just couldn't stay awake. She now has to get a CT scan to make sure there's no brain damage.

I am sorry to hear she isn't well. Its hard to see a family member hurting. Hopefully at the hospital they can give her something to get sleep and get the psychosis under control. I have insomnia and not sleeping makes every day things difficult and worsens any mental health issue. Scary stuff.

I'm sorry you grandma isn't well. Hopefully they can get her meds situated and she'll come home and feel a little better. My grandpa had Alzheimer and dementia it was heart breaking when he had to do something for his dead family members.

Thanks for your support everyone

It's wrecking me to see my grandmother like this. She is not doing well at all.

I almost don't want to visit her today because it's very triggering. Yet, we don't know how much longer she has to live, and I'd feel selfish leaving her alone. She cries when we're gone and gets more depressed there. When she saw us yesterday, it brightened her day and she stopped crying.

I'm so sorry, blue, I know it is such a helpless feeling. You are doing what you can do, which is to be there for her.
