So I was just diagnosed as bipolar, ADHD, with some social anxiety and I don't know 🤔 I don't know what to think - all I know right now is that I'm a crappy friend because I never keep commitments due to mood and my friends accept me as flaky. I wish that wasn't my label though I love that they accept me. I have wanted to know what was going on with me for soo long yet this diagnosis has me questioning everything. Both it and myself. Do I need lemotregene? Can't I just handle the mood swings? Maybe I have normal mood swings like everyone else.... but am looking for attention perhaps.
I was up till 12 am cleaning last night and then woke up at 4am wide awake, enough that I got out of bed and did stuff. At work I was grumpy, anxious, jittery and spacey but I got a lot done and then came home and did more housework. Though I'm wired I'm also feelin more depressed- is this hypomania? I know nothing about anything I've been diagnosed as so far. ![]() But one thing I really want to know is this.... I get a tingling sensation on my brain, like drops or light sprinkles of cold water when feeling inspired or having a day like today and when depressed I immediately feel the psycical sensation of two hands cupping my brain and pushing down. Even before I feel the cognitive effects of depression and this sudden change can be immediate. I'm feeling a bit now as I'm describing the sensation. Can any of you relate to these sensations? Sorry for my scattered thoughts. I'm feeling a lot of things right now. Xo |

Welcome to the bipolar forums.
There are many people who post here. Some people have multiple diagnosis's like you. Some struggle with borderline tendencies as this is very difficult to differentiate between the 2. When I am hypomanic I appear to have ADHD as well. I do have social anxiety issues and have over drank to hide my nerves. Now I bring hot tea to parties if I can get away with it. I have a drinking problem too. and an internet problem and eating. but since the addition of zyprexa I feel much more in control and stable. welcome again. bizi

I was diagnosed just a few months ago but I had suspected for a long time. I didn't have true mania until about 5 months ago before it was hypomania. I also can get odd sensations in my head. For me it's more like there is electricity inside my head buzzing around. I feel like I have an arc reactor in my brain. When I'm depressed I feel like there is an empty black space in my chest and I feel very heavy.
The medication decision is a hard and personal one. Have you spoken with a therapist or psychiatrist yet? I'm on lamictal and still skeptical of meds. It seems to be working and I'm getting more even but I'm still deciding if it is right for me. One thing a friend told me that helped a lot on my decision to start meds was this, "You are still fully in control of your medication. If you don't like what the doctor prescribes, don't take it and get something you do like. You can quit any medication as long as you do it safely". Remembering that I was in control made it less terrifying for me |

I remember feeling this way when I was first diagnosed too. I guess what matters is if your moods impact your quality of life, and it seems like they do (with your friends). If medication can help, maybe it's worth giving it a chance.

What meds does your pdoc have you on? I think you mentioned lamictal. IT is the first line mood stabilizer. I have taken it for 10 years.
How are you doing? (((((HUGS)))) bizi

Thanks. I was bummed as I was feeling better on lemotrigine. Normal energy and happiness. I had a break and am only on day 3 of lithium and am titrating up very slowly. So far no side effects and feel the same mostly.
