I've been on Wellbutrin for 2 or 3 months now and I love it. I feel better when I didn't know how bad I felt. Kind of like getting your first pair of glasses- "oh THIS is what the world looks like!"

Funny thing though- back when I got put on it was when I had a manic episode. I don't think I was depressed.

So NOW Pdoc wants to switch out Zyprexa for Rexulti. (Cholesterol is something like 700!). But I read there is a moderate interaction between the two drugs. Will Rexulti take care of any depression? I really don't want to stop the Wellbutrin.

My next Pdoc appointment isn't for 3 more weeks.

I take Abilify (sort of like Rexulti, senior) at a high dose with a high dose (400mgs) wellbutrin, plus lamictal and trileptal.

The big issue I think is seizures, which can happen with a lot of psych drugs, but wellbutrin has a bad reputation. I think the current maximum dose for wellbutrin is 450mgs/day, but the seizure rate goes up after 400. Its weird like that.

I'm clearly not any kinda expert (I'm just weirdly, moderately, OCD-ish and fascinated by psych drugs, so I read about this stuff sometimes), but my vote is for the combination probably being more helpful than potentially harmful.

Antipsychotics/neuroleptics+lithium, though, can = more problems in some people. Not trying to scare you or whatever, just saying that if you get the tics and twitches and such, it might not be the wellbutrin+rexulti, but rather the lithium+rexulti. And, as always, during the first couple weeks of taking Rexulti, be aware of the NMS risk (rare, but has to be addressed promptly).

Hope things work out well for you.

neuroleptic malignancy syndrome. Its a rare reaction to antipsychotics that can be fatal. When it happens, its usually during the first couple weeks of treatment. I think its a tad bit more common with lithium on board, but its still rare.

I just started taking wellbutrin (bupropion) 150 mg to start with and have been taking 2 mg of rexulti. i also take between 1.25 and 2.5 mg of olanzapine, which I am trying to get off of.

This is for a deep and long lasting depression that hasn't budged an inch in months.

Does anyone have experience with rexulti and buproprion (good or bad) that they would like to share? I'm hoping this will lift my depression.
