I take a lot of meds and recently I’ve been violently ill, vomiting. My face is covered with broken capillaries. (I hope it clears up?)
Obviously, I am going to my doctor and I do have GI issues (IBS and no Advil Ibuprofen, NSAIDS, etc., ever again), but nothing like this. I’ve had no new med changes. Not even dosage. At first I thought it was the flu. It is not. QUESTION: If you take meds and have a “sensitive stomach,” do you have any tips? I take meds as directed and with food if required. I’m seeing my doctor (another dreaded whatever that test is, I bet ![]() My normal behavior is to take a handful of pills and swall the entire batch with a cold beverage. Done so for years, no problem. I don’t drink alcohol if that is useful. Barfing sucks. Take meds gradually throughout the day instead of one go? TLDR; My meds have me violently barfing. Going to see doc. Any tips meanwhile? No new meds, stomach just revolts. Not the flu. Thanks! |

Maybe spread the pills out?
While the doctor is considering what is wrong make sure he considers the possibility of pancreatic cancer--especially if you are 40 or older. For more than a year they thought my mother's pancreatic cancer was simply acid reflux. I know she was having a lot of problems with her stomach. I hope your doctor helps you figure this out. It sounds miserable. ![]() |

When I took Latuda, I threw up within 15 minutes of taking it. Every.Single.Time.

Have you tried taking them with some crackers or ginger ale? When I was taking horrible round of meds for a GI problem (some stomach bacteria thing) I couldn't keep them down unless I ate crackers immediately after. Then I sipped a drink slowly and that helped, I stopped throwing up; was able to keep them down. (3 horse pills 3x a day along with my regular meds)
Hope your dr can figure it out without any more tests! I hate GI tests. Feel better soon!

I find zofran helps when I'm nauseous. They'll probably want to do an endoscopy though. I'm not sure about the other symptoms. I'd advise not looking on WebMD. See your GI dr if you have one. It might just be reflux. I'm on dexilant for that. It's hard to get approved by insurance though.

I agree that you should try spreading them out. I think if you do that, you might be able to pinpoint a specific med that makes you sick, or you'll be able to tell if all of them make you sick.
FWIW, I have a sensitive stomach too. I like to take one at a time, 30 mins apart. It's usually the lamictal that gets me, and I think it's because it's large. (Other large pills make me nauseous too, so I'm pretty sure that size is the problem for me.) |

Thanks, you all! Wow, I’m really appreciative for all the replies. I just have been offline for ... weeks, really with my stepdad dying and I’m in a mixed episode.
But, hey! If I can taking PUKING out of the equation....life’s a little better, lol. I’d really prefer to not have another endoscopy. And thank you for the med suggestions and spacing them out. I’ve been eating bites of bread and spacing out my meds. One yogurt, too. I guess Intermittent Fasting isn’t going to workout. That’s OK. I technically have to take meds four times per day so plenty of time to spread them out. I usually take the “essentials” in the morning and during the day....and swallow vitamins and some other prescribed rx for chronic pain at night. So odd that I used to take an occasional Tylenol for a headache before all this...anyway, thank you and I’ll be more active as much as I can. I do like to support people and I have had nine years’ of med changes (so usually have input on my personal experience), IPs, blah blah blah. I’m a bipolar consumer =/ TLDR; glam needs to space out her meds and EAT a little something...thanks you all! xo ![]() |

You can ask your doctor to prescribe anti nausea meds like zofran.

About the GI issues, I find a lot of relief with a small plain kefir (lots of probiotics... way more than yoghurt) and some protein powder.

Glad that eating and spreading out meds works for you. I was going to suggest a BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast), that I used to do before I had to take 350 cals for Latuda.

Has this problem started or worsened with a med change or a change in diet?
