I swear I have tardive dyskinesia. My legs are still twitchy and shaky but I watched them last night and it’s more of a little bit above a fine tremor. My toes curl, my legs get stiff and then the shaking starts. It almost looks like a nervous person’s leg shaking but the movement is not as pronounced. I’m also noticing that my right hand looks like I’m pointing at something when I’m resting, doing absolutely nothing. My pointer finger will just be up and outstretched while my hand and other fingers are relaxed.
This has been ongoing since the beginning of Jan. when my psychiatrist increased my dose of Latuda to the max. I've since lowered it on my own (within the past two weeks) and I still have the side effects. I'm going to have to lower it again. It is almost impossible to get in touch with my Dr in between appointments. I hope I'm not setting myself up for another round of mixed mania by reducing it but I don't feel like I can wait either. So far, except for the side effects, I'm feeling ok. I'm scared at this point that these things will become permanent.

War dial the pdoc for help. Don’t take no for an answer—that is something you need to report right away.
If that doesn’t work, report it to your regular doc, who can call your pdoc for you. |

I'm so sorry, Sounds awful! I hope your doc can bring you relief. Have you talked to your doc about side effect meds?

So sorry your dealing with this I would be scared too.
I also would drop the dose. I agree with Key tones , call and call and call. I hope you don’t go mixed but.... I’d rather go mixed even if its he’ll than having TD for the rest of your life or worse. I hope this gets sorted out and your Pdoc will take care of this shyt!

I think I would rather go mixed, too, than be stuck with something permanent. Also putting it in that perspective, I'd rather my psychiatrist be mad at me and biiiiitch me out than be stuck like this. He can be mad.

I am sorry you are experiencing these symptoms. I agree with the advice to check in with your pdoc. If your pdoc is not available and you'd like some input, maybe try your pharmacist?
I've had those same symptoms when I increase my Abilify. I'd feel unsettled, too, with that going on. Keep watch of symptoms and take good care. ![]() WC

That is scary. I don't think Latuda is an anti-psychotic, which are known to cause TD, but it could be you are having side-effect symptoms. My legs get twitchy at times. It's a miserable feeling, that's for sure. If need be, then go by your doc's office and get the next available appointment. I'm surprised that you haven't heard back yet. Please keep us informed!

Please call your doc's office and get in as soon as you can. If you have to call-bomb them, so be it.
I had to drop my Latuda dose as well and then take Artane for the rest of my TD. My face still goes weird but it's much less than what it was. Stress also aggravates it for me. My pnurse and regular doc want me to stay on it since it has kept me stable. |

Can you go to your regular GP instead of your pdoc? Or some kind of clinic?

TD is scary and it's horrible when you are going through it. I developed a severe case of it after several years on Abilify. Mine affected my mouth. My lips would tremble uncontrollably and I would make involuntary grimacing movements. Then my tongue was never still in my mouth and was flicking in and out. It was one of the lowest moments of my life, but then it resolved. I will never, ever take another antipsychotic no matter how much they say I need it. I'm not taking any chance on that coming back again.
