Sorry you're depressed.

What do you mean by "we"?
Thanks for this!

I get summertime depression too, but not usually until June/July. I'm sorry you are facing this. I hope it's mild this year or goes away.

I am at the other extreme. We got record warmth for a week or so in Feb and I felt so good it bordered on hypomania. Now we are getting down to freezing at night and the long range forecast is mostly highs in the 40s and 50s (low 60s and rain are the "nicest" days) and my mood dropped back to the low key sulk.

I don't have any good ideas about avoiding the depression, but for what it's worth I get it in the summer also. You're not alone.

I always worry this time of year because I usually end up in hospital.

I get summer depression in July.

I hope you can get through it with minimal depression, Shattered.

Even though I've had manias in the summer, I almost always get depressions. Plus, I don't like the heat and having to go from sweating and wearing minimal clothing to going back into the air conditioning. When I was young, I liked it, but not anymore. Plus, I'm a little self-conscious now in skimpier clothing and prefer fall/winter clothes. I think my medication has something to do with my lack of tolerance in the heat as well. I also think there's something that goes on chemically where I don't do well in the summer. Fall is my favorite season, although the first couple of weeks of September is a struggle.

Anyway, sorry that you're experiencing this. I thought I was one of the rare ones that struggles with summer time depression with BP, since I hear more people discuss mania/hypomania.

hey shattered,

Sorry you are struggling right now. Is there anything you can create (a hobby, a ritual, an outing etc.) to make yourself look forward to the summer or at least make it less grim? My father began snowboarding in the winter to battle his winter depressions and it did help some.
Otherwise we are here to see you through it. I am suffering right now too (although not with spring/summer depression) am I am always here to lend an understanding ear.

I thought the same

I used to think I was the only person on this forum who suffered with summer time depression.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one now, and that I can feel more validated.

I have summer depression as well. My husband and I overheat easily, but being cooped up in the house isn't helpful either. The daylight also cuts back on my sleep, even with light-blocking curtains.
