Hi guys!!

I'm popping back on here for a work related question. I've only been working part time at a retail job. It's pretty easy, all I do is ring customers up, clean up and put stuff back in their place at the end of the night. But this disability process has been taking way longer than expected and I need money. So I've been looking for a full time job again. It's a lot harder considering I have a gap in employment, but I have a couple of places that have responded and I'm nervous.
Since I have been out of a full time job I have been taking risperdal. It has been increased to 3mg. Now I have noticed somewhat of a blunted effect from it. I guess I just feel slower if that makes any sense. I'm worried that I won't be able to learn a more complex job like I was doing before because my memory is worse and I have a hard time staying focused. What I want to do is take myself off of it so that I can have a little more clarity. I was thinking of halving it for a week or two then stopping it. Does that make sense? Am I risking too much by doing this? I just want to get back to 'normal'. And it was only increased because of my anxiety being high while I was going through this process in the first place. But if I have a stable job, then most of that anxiety will go away. Well, then there is some residual anxiety from starting a new job.... I don't know what to do, any suggestions?
Miss you guys!!

Won’t working full time interfere with your disability case? I think it would show you don’t need disability. Unless that’s your goal.

Anyway are you stable? If so I wouldn’t risk changing your meds around without a pdoc’s approval. I totally understand the blunted affect, I had that from risperdal as well, it if it’s working for you I think it’s best not to mess with it on your own. Just a fwiw.

Talk to your pdoc asap about your options. Until then don’t change your medication regime. You can’t afford to mess with stability and work right now.

I agree with the others. Don't change anything until you talk to your pdoc.

I fully understand what you mean by "blunted". If you have a lot of experience with meds I believe it's up to you whether or not to stop the Risperdal. If you don't have much med experience, definitely speak with your pdoc first.

I'm curious, too, about working and applying for disability. It seems to me that if you can successfully hold a job you'll be turned down for disability, won't you?

First of all, Hello. I've been missing you.

The way I see it, you're defeating yourself before failing.
When a job opportunity presents, you go or interview no matter what.
Showing up is 90% of the fight.

If you are going to wait for the perfect time or state of mind to act, you will go to little opportunites.
Perfect is boring, let alone unrealistic.

I'm a bike rider. If I wait for the perfect conditions, I will ride very little.
I ride at night, in the rain and in the wind. As long I'm able to see.
I see riders stopping for a drizzle. Specially Harley riders. Or shall I say weekend "bikers".

Try fo feel better with the help of your doctor, but don't wait for "normal".
Good luck. I love you.

I also agree with our friends as stated in comments above.
I also wanted to say "hi!" It's been awhile! Great to "see" you again!

Hi Gina, missed you!! I have to agree with everyone else on stopping the meds. Put a call into pdoc and let them know how this one makes you feel. I know it's so frustrating with meds!!! Big hugs to ya!
