I’ve been feeling SUPER the last couple of days. I do have some good things going on in my life but I’m wondering how I can tell if I’m getting too high. I’ve only ever been manic a couple of times so I don’t know my patterns. What are some signs you notice when you are getting manic?

sleep is the big one for me. if you're feeling awesome w/ no sleep for a while, you might want to consider doing...something. your current psych drug cocktail is an issue, too. if you're suddenly feeling 110% amazingly awesome after being put on a stimulant or an antidepressant, that could= (drug induced) (hypo)mania, euphoria, etc. or not.

there's a lot of variation within the "Bipolar I" diagnostic group, so just...try to sleep reasonably well, watch your agitation and anxiety levels, and...obviously...keep an eye out for psychosis, grandiosity, etc.

wish i could be more helpful, but...that's pretty much all I've got for you. good luck.

Like still crazy said. The biggest indicator for me is sleep. If I suddenly start waking up after only a few hours of sleep and have tons of energy and start zipping around the house starting projects....that’s a warning sign for me.

I’ve been feeling pretty good lately too. At first I also wondered if I was getting manic, but I’m sleeping fine for the usual number of hours. I decided to just roll with it and enjoy. Maybe you could too?

You know, I can never tell these days. Sometimes I wonder if I get manic while still getting a normal amount of sleep. Then again, I get hallucinations and delusions outside of manic episodes, so everything is kind of a blur for me.

If you really want to know the answer, you'll have to journal -- and be consistent about it. Journaling is the only way to know YOUR signs and symptoms since everyone experiences mania differently.

Why not start now? Whether you're actually manic or not, you'll have notes written down that you can reference later.
