As an experiment (sanctioned by my pdoc) I took 15mg of Zyprexa instead of 20mg today. Results: wide awake all day, as desired. But also all my paranoid psychotic thoughts are back. Plus suicidal ideations. Wow, what a huge difference with just 5mg! I'm back to 20mg. Guess I'm just going to have to get used to napping.

Ugh. Been there and it's so frustrating to be either 3/4 asleep all day, or having symptoms.

I am sorry the dose reduction did not work out for you.

I think we have a problem Huston. One day isn't really giving your experiment a fair trial.

Maybe having a chat with your pdoc?

I used to be on 5mg for about 10 years. I tried one the other day and it knocked me out, I couldn't walk, I was just sleepy, but my mind was still racing.

What I'm trying to say here is, sometimes our bodies need to re-adjust....again

I had symptoms return for about a week then they subsided. There is still some psychosis but I'd rather that then only sleeping and eating all day.

Like the others said. Our uncooperative bodies are very sensitive to even minor med changes. Often if you manage to ride it out ..the body will adjust. Maybe you could try a reduced dose every other day. I’ve done that and it helped. Or perhaps try a smaller reduction like going down to 17.5 instead of 15. If your Meds are not in capsule form or sustained release this is doable. My pill cutter is a workhouse in my med regimen.
