Ugh...so this morning, I was tired and having trouble opening the Sunday section of my pill box. I got frustrated then took the pills inside it, not realizing I was taking my night meds. Two of my meds I take morning and night (Lamictal & Klonopin), and a muscle relaxer (from the rheumatolgist for fibromylgia) I take in the morning looks so much like the sleep medication from my psychiatrist. After I finally got the Sunday section of my medicine box open, I just took the meds without really looking at them.

HUGE MISTAKE!

After about 30 minutes awake, I decided to go jogging with a warmup walk. My MapMyRun app was acting crazy, so I had to keep messing with it. Finally I got jogging though it felt like my back and legs were acting weird. My jogging time got slower and slower each mile until I was trying to jog my normal walking rate. I got off the road onto a sidewalk (nearly falling down and losing my balance and hurting myself). I decided I needed to walk home. The 15 minute walk took nearly half an hour. At home, I was feeling very dizzy and loopy; my husband said I was slurring my words, and did I accidently take my night meds instead of the morning ones? I told him no way and went to look. Sure enough, I took my night meds this morning. OMG, what a mistake! I am so lucky I did not fall down jogging.

Please forgive any typos in this. I am still waiting for the night meds to wear off.

Oh my god you poor dear thing I done that before and it terrified me. I thought I was having some kind of psychotic break. I took an ambien in the morning thinking it was an antihistamine. Then I DROVE my grandson to a DR appointment. My grandson kept saying “Gramma are you SURE you’re OK? It’s a miracle I didn’t kill us both. Poor guy was scared to death.

When I got home and slept it off I figured out what I did. I gave the ambien for my husband to hold so I’d have to ask him for an ambien if I wanted one. I’ve always managed my own Meds so this was a bit humiliating. But I figured safety before pride. Then I took a sharpie and marked a big first letter initial on each the caps of my pill bottles so I wouldn’t mix them up if I didn’t have my glasses on.

Thank god the angels or the cosmos or just pure dumb luck was watching out for me that day.

Ugh! That sounds terrible. I'm glad you finally got home. Take it easy today. Do you know what you're going to do medication-wise tonight?

I don't believe I ever accidentally took my night meds in the morning by accident, but my husband took MY evening medications by accident once (instead of his morning meds), in the morning. Oh my! He managed to drive to work, but then started almost passing out. I had to drive to his workplace and pick him up, leaving his car there. When he got home he slept for about 12-14 hours during the daytime. My medication cocktail has since reduced, but back then my evening pill box included 800 mg Tegretol XR, 80 mg Geodon, at least 400 mg Seroquel XR, and 0.5 mg Klonopin. It may have even included 600 mg Lithium ER, but I'm not completely sure about the Lithium. At one point I took it with all of the rest.

Note: My husband does not have bipolar disorder. At that time he was taking an antidepressant with a stimulant for ADD.

Oh wow. What a story! I just saw an episode of Bizzare ER on TV recently where a mother and daughter were rushed to the hospital. The daughter was passed out and the mother was having extreme blood pressure issues. Then the husband showed up with their Meds. And they figured out that they had switched their Meds that morning by accident. Glad your husband was ok.

Thanks, Shezerac! Thinking about it, if I took those evening meds of mine in the morning (that he accidentally took) I'd surely fare a lot better than him. Not that I wouldn't be extremely tired, but I might have been able to get through at least most of the day. Tegretol, Lithium, and Geodon stopped making me tired after a while of taking them. It would only have been the Seroquel XR and maybe Klonopin that would have made me tired. And I think I could have coped. Nowadays I have to take my evening meds (including the Tegretol XR, 450 Seroquel XR, and the Klonopin) at 7 pm in order to sometimes fall asleep by 12 midnight. I have taken up to 300 mg Seroquel in the morning, when manic, and it barely touch me.

My husband took my 400mg gabepentin by mistake, and couldn't find his legs for a few hours.

I was taking a muscle relaxer in the morning, but couldn't work out because my heart had slowed down as well.

Otherwise we're pretty good on meds.

My 35th birthday my wife and I were going out to dinner. I was talking with my son while taking what I thought was my blood pressure pill. Nope it was my sleep med. Needless to say we made it half way to the restaurant and had to go home.

When I was on 1200 mg of Seroquel (plus a bunch of other stuff) I took my night meds in the morning so that I took 2400 mg of Seroquel in about 12 hours. Fortunately I realized almost immediately and called my pdoc in the few minutes I had before falling sound asleep for 14 hours. I actually talked to another pdoc and had to convince them it wasn't a suicide attempt but they wound up telling me to just sleep it off. I was sleepy for a few days; it was scary.

Taking Geodon is like a sleep med for me. I'm trying to get switched off of it. I took it at supper like i was supposed to then went to the rec center later on. in the middle of my workout i got real slow and tired. It was like i took a sleeping pill. I hate this med!!!! If i don't take it the anxieties eat me alive and if i take it I am living in my own hell as a zombie for the whole day. It's torturous feeling. Like purgatory.

Oh dear. I may have to switch from Latuda, which I love, to Geodon, which is way cheap in comparison. Is it really that bad? What other AP's have you tried?

Abilify: felt like a bad lobotomy job anxieties ate me alive

Latuda: anxieties ate me alive by day and depression and wanting to die by night

Seroquel: worked like magic instant relief the first night. worked good for the anxieties and depression. but chronic migraines sent me to Geodon.

Geodon: tired, drugged, can't and don't feel like doing anything. not safe to drive can't form sentences. zombie. at the end of my rope.

for many years 2001-2009 i was on neurontin, then tegretol till December 2016 and Went on Lithium in Feb 2017. I think anti convulsants are better for me then atypical anti-psychotics. Does some people not do well with the atypical anti-psychotics?

Now I am trying to get the dr to switch me to Trileptal. I should have chose it when she offered 3 weeks ago. dammit.
