wish me luck guys

on tuesday I am going to see someone to complain about a mental health worker who made fun of my abuse.

quite terrified.. I hate making complaints and I hate sounding like "poor defenceless me" if that makes sense.

I always end up feeling that I do these sorts of things for nothing.

like what's a complaint about abuse compared to say.... a complaint about a doctor neglecting his patience in a hospital

I'm probably looking at it all wrong but this is how I see it most of the time

You have my support and best wishes for someone to listen to your very valid grievance and to take some action.

I think you are definitely looking at it wrong. Someone who makes fun of your abuse is reprehensible. You should complain. Also if they are doing it to you they will do it to others. Standing up and reporting this behavior will save others from emotional damage too.

I agree. Nobody has the right to make fun of your abuse. If they do, they are beneath contempt. And inevitably will harm others as well.

You don't need luck. Just hope that the truth be heard.

A mental health worker who makes fun of a mentally ill person shouldn't even have a job in the mental health field.

Advocate for yourself. You have that right. We are here for you!

I’m not a complainer...I even hate the word complain it’s self. An EMT called the hospital in an ambulance that I was in complaining of pain symptoms...I got really indignant because I said it once and as a report of physical well being. People that complain has a whine to their complaint- at least in my head it is....so we don’t complain.

I’m a demander...I demand that appropriators actions are taken to remedy said situation. I report improper doctor/patient etiquette. I don’t complain.

I’m a reporter as I report the facts. She did this he did that....fix it.

Good luck with that....and look at it like your a champion to the defenseless in future matters associated with this heartless mental health worker.

I know how easy it is to hurt people on this site, so I'll tread lightly. I'm not sure how you were made fun of, and it would indeed be reprehensible. I support you in reporting it.

I may be misunderstanding your post; however, try to be cognizant of the fact that "complaint" or "chief complaint" or "presenting complaint" are all shorthand that medical people use to refer to the primary reason a person presents for care; in fact, a "CC" is typically the first category in a standard medical record, followed by the HPI (History of Present Illness), PMH (Past Medical History), FH (Family History), then the PE (Physical Examination), followed by LD (Laboratory Data), etc. I've always felt that "complaint" was an unfortunate choice of terms, implying that a patient is whining, not trustworthy, and begging for sympathy. CC is a only a subjective statement; e.g., "The patient complains of chest pain," and the following objective portions of the record may demonstrate a heart attack, or a broken rib, or any number of conditions. It sounds demeaning but isn't meant to be. You can even Google "chief complaint" to see its meaning.

When I've read my own medical records, "complaint" makes it look like there's no basis in fact; however, a chief complaint of "back pain" means that this is my subjective experience; it may be shown on radiologic studies that I have a ruptured disk, or it may be pain that originates in my gallbladder, etc. It doesn't mean that my complaint of back pain is any less legitimate or that the doctor questions my judgment.

An ER doctor might ask, "What brings you to the Emergency Department today?" "I'm depressed," I might answer. S/he writes "Chief Complaint: The patient says she's depressed."

You probably already know the above, and I might not have understood how the healthcare worker embarrassed or upset you. Hospitals seem motivated these days to ensure that patient experiences are positive, and I hope you get some resolution.
