So I found a manic purchase I made 3 years ago. It was an acoustic guitar (an expensive one at that) that I've never touched. I found the guitar yesterday at my parents' house and decided I'd learn how to play it before thinking about selling it. I do have a musical background (been playing other instruments since 9 years old and now I'm 27), so I can read music and I understand music theory.

What about you?

I don't suggest manic purchases, but I bought a pair of top-of-the-line bluetooth headphones that I couldn't afford (bought 'em on credit - OUCH!). While I paid a hefty price, I love my headphones.

I paid $350 for them, but the interest rate on my credit card was 25%! They're a wonderful pair of Bose noise canceling headphones. They make the world go away.

I always purchase clothing and shoes when I’m manic. I always get years of use from them. My tastes are the same no matter my mood. The only difference is in how much I’m willing to spend.
E.g. last week I purchased a shirt for $500. It’s beautiful and I know I’ll still get use out of it once I’m back to an even keel.

I bought an avalanche beacon, probe, and a backcountry shovel. Best $400 I'll ever spend.

Ah, I have a pair of those. Well, it was the QC 35 and was $350 when I got them years ago. (Like 2012 ago. lol.) They make my ears too hot and sweaty, but they're super comfortable.

Where'd you get the $500 shirt? The most expensive I've seen were from Armani, and even those were like $400. Most I've spent on a shirt is $70, and that was for job interviews right out of college. Lol.

Those tools sound pretty useful. I can see how you'd benefit from them. I wish i retained some intelligence when manic. But nope, it's dumb **** like hats (because I refuse to wear hats) and Nerf guns. Lol. I don't know why I ever bought Nerf guns.

A massage chair.

The first one was a lemon, and don’t mess with me when I’m hypomanic. I called the store manager and complained weekly until they shipped me a new one. Then I found out the manufacturer kept redesigning the mechanisms for failing, because it failed again. I called them weekly and demanded a different model, but they didn’t want to, shipped me another chair that failed right out of the box in front the installers, so they finally shipped me a different model.

In the meantime, the first model went 50% off in the store, and I got the store to give me half my money back for all the time and aggravation dealing with it.

And I ended up with a nicer chair. I use it almost daily.

I would never ordinarily buy such a thing.

Recently I purchased a new wardrobe. This was not my intention. I started out purchasing just a couple shirts. This ultimately led to 16 shirts, and six sport coats. Allot of those shirts were listed at $150 a piece. Just one sport coat listed for $600.

I really needed to purchase clothes due to my weight loss. However, I am a bit premature since my weight has not stabilized yet. But 16 shirts? Six sport coats? For what reason? I have never worn a sportcoat before, and probably will never need to. I still have shoes to purchase and a couple items for my daily clothes. This is what I actually need. No money for that now. I am right now digging myself out of the additional debt. This will take me some time. For now, I am using my credit card to pay for all of this. Not good at all. I am already up to a $30,000 debt in the form of credit cards and lines of credit. I am on disability with no job!

I bought a rice cooker once when manic when I went on a spree buying kitchen utilities. It is finicky, but it does make good rice when it works, and I don't have to worry about a pot on the stove boiling over.

I have bought a guitar, keyboards and lots of other musical hardware. Plus newer computers.
My husband takes the old ones and uses them for various projects in his lab.

I think my next manic purchase will be a house, plus getting the current house fixed. I can feel the gears grinding already.

I didn't "need" them but I got them anyways because at the time I NEEDED them. A new Ford Escape (fully loaded of course) and a state of the art, in the thousands of dollars, TV. Still have them to this day. Dunno how the wife has kept me this long.

$500AUD is approx $375USD. I bought it from a little local boutique that brings in clothes from all over the world.
This top is by US designer Johnny Was. It’s very cute. Textured flowers and butterflies - just the thing for this manic woman.

I was manic in February. I was offered a credit card and bought a bunch of items online. I spent $400 for stuff that turned out to be useless to me, except for a $30 set of paint pens, which are wonderful. Now I owe over 400$ and have no way to pay it. I'm very upset about the whole thing.

Many times. Specially cars. Jewelry, Italian suits, Bally's and Bruno Maglies. That was The Life.
Nothing like paying for a table of ten strangers, just because a friend is dining in it.
I made the money, but I should have bought buildings instead.
Next time I come into big money, I will spend it AGAIN. No remorse here.
