I believe in luck.
I believe we attract our fate.
I believe that destiny can be changed.
I really don't know what karma is.

You?.

I do believe in luck and don't believe in destiny, fate, or karma.

Now, if only that luck I believe in would give me a bit of the other type...good luck for a change!

Fate and destiny are kind of the same thing to me. They both imply that we don't make choices that influence our lives.
Karma is the belief that our choices come back to us in one form or another.
Luck.
I live my life with no destiny, except to find happiness. I try to make choices that will be a positive if they come back, but lately I've been bad, and luck has been on my side.

I believe in luck. I think our fate is already predetermined. If believe if we work hard enough we can try to change our destiny. Karma can suck. I'm dealing with some ancestral karma bullcrap rn. What can go wrong does. Things are getting slightly better, been meditating and doing energy work.

All you need it to capitalize Higher Power. Which I call Superior Power.

Luck is random chance that sometimes works in your favor. I believe in that, but I don't believe in anything that makes luck better or worse. People who have more luck just had random chance fall that way. Because it is random, it isn't going to evenly distributed. There is a theory that chaos is just patterns we don't understand, which would mean there really isn't random chance. If that's so, I still believe in luck because things are random from our perspective; good or bad things happen that no one (you or others; not just things you are blind to) saw coming.

I don't believe in karma. I think it just stands out in our minds when something good happens to someone who seems to deserve it or something bad happens to someone who seems to deserve it. It goes the other way just as often.

Fate and destiny? No. Higher power? There could be one, but I don't think any of the religions are based on anything that even remotely resembles a true understanding of one. I think it is highly unlikely that there is one, but my mind isn't closed to the possibility. If there is one, I don't think it's concerned with my moral code.

Luck? Yes.

For example, some people get in car accidents that in theory "should" have killed them, but they come out unscathed. Or some people win the lottery by picking random numbers (except that lady who graduated with a PhD in Statistics from Stanford who knew number theory well enough to pick the right numbers in the lottery to win multiple times in a row and pocket $14 million or so.)

Karma? I tie that in with luck. Some people do things that have high risk for going awry, and they get lucky that nothing bad happens.

But higher up? I can't say one way or another. I don't want to get into a debate about it, so I'm just going to say I look at things from a scientific standpoint.

I forgot to add. I do believe in God or a higher power. But I believe people have free will as well. There are some parts of Christian religion I believe in that other Christians don't. For example (getting a B.S. in microbiology & an M.S. in Cell & Molecular Biology), I do believe evolution happened, but I believe it was all directed under God's hand.

Let me take this opportunity to talk about religion a little.
I was raised a hard Catholic, Apostolic and Roman.

All the catholic church brought me was pain, suffering, misery, hurt and sorrow.

I have recited ten billion Holy Fathers, 2 trillion Hail Marys and 1 million other stupidities.

I was forced to attend mass every day without breakfast. On Sundays, one regular and one singing. Still no breakfast. In Latin. So you couldn't understand the teckum terekum.
Of course, it was forbbiden to us to read the bible. Besides, it was in Latin.

In my particular case, I left my Dear Cuba when I was 13 and landed in a boarding school in Mexico. For the rich and unwanted.
We were in there for nine months straight. !/2 a day on mother's day. 1/2 on father's day. 2 hour visit on Sundays. If your family cared to visit. My "family" went once a month.
I had the misfortune to grind my teeth while sleeping. In a twenty bed dormitory.
I suffered too much punishment for that, to try to even remember. The motherfukker priests, wanted to "get the devil out of me". They never told me this. Well, they put the devil in me.

To top it off, I was the only foreigner against 2000 mexican unwanted rich kids.
The first year, I lived in the infermery. Beaten and brusied every day. But I learned how to fistfight.
The second year, I made top 5 of the worst of the baddest. Bully time.
I had to kick, push or punch someone every day to maintain ranking. Even if I didn't feel it.
If there is a hell somewhere else (I think we live in hell), the catholic church should have been in that mutherffking place right after they killed Jesus.

What was left for me?. Create my own religion.
I believe in a Superior Power.
The most important person in my life is Me. Without Me, there is nothing.
I have been fortunate enough to be a giver. Never a taker. Hence my belief in luck.
I don't need love. I need respect. Love is welcome if there is respect first.
It's too much to enumerate, so I'll leave with the basic.

Thank you for reading.

It’s really comforting to believe that there is a grand plan beyond just me like destiny. It relaxes me to think I do the best I can and the rest is out of my control. I love when I see karma come back to bite someone who deserves it. Plenty of good people never get a break and bad people never get punished. I joked yesterday after being in a department store Customer Service counter that if you are evil in a prior life, you end up having to work at that counter...those poor employees were getting tortured by customers trying to return stuff or haggling for prices on stuff.

Thank you, pirilin, for sharing your experience.
I believe that luck, fate, and karma are illusory. I do believe that there is a Creator. That said, I don't believe that human beings have much of an idea of what the Creator truly is.

Along these lines there is a very interesting site called Beliefnet. Somewhere on the site there is a truly interesting quiz about beliefs.

The quiz there said I was a Taoist but I only align on about half of that. I suppose I'm a free spirit and free thinker uncaged by all the religions. That, or I'm going to hell in every religion
