Is anyone here on 600 mg of Wellbutrin a day?

I am also on 60mg of Cymbalta daily.
Is anyone taking the max of 120mgs?

Can you please share your experiences?

thank you

Isn’t 600mg over normal dosing?

Cymbalta I could never take severe stomach pain.

Are you on other meds too?

I'm not a doctor, but that combo alone seems a little strange for bipolar. That is a lot of Wellbutrin. I thought the maximum dosing for Wellbutrin was around 450 mg? Seems like it would make a person prone to mania as well as put you in danger of overdosing?

I took Cymbalta for several years after my daughter was born, first for post-partum depression then depression. Only later was my diagnosis changed to bipolar when I showed up for a pdoc appointment super manic. I did pretty well on the Cymbalta without too much else for the first year or so (of course, post baby, hormones and things are just weird, and I was nursing too, husband & I weighed the pros & cons and it wasn't a decision we made lightly). I can't remember what dosage of Cymbalta I ended up on, maybe 90 mg/day?

But I also do have fibromyalgia. They often use low dose (30 mg) Cymbalta to help treat fibro pain. (I hurt so bad when I had to come off the Cymbalta, it was a nightmare.) So it could be that if I was feeling less pain from the fibromyalgia, my mood was better too.

Reading the forums used by psychs and pdocs, many believe that Buproprion is contraindicated for bipolar. I have been on a high dose of it in the past, but I was on an AP too. I may be just tolerant of it more than other people are. I may be lucky I did not go manic. I do not know. Then aphetamine salts (Adderal) was added. Then levothyroxine was added. That did the trick. Then I was taken off all of that over time. Now years later I am back on a dose of Buproprion.

Yeah... that bupropion dosage is WAY high. For instant release (IR)and extended release (XL) types, it shouldn't exceed 450mg (the IR being divided into 4 doses). And for the sustained release type (SR), it shouldn't exceed 400mg per day (divided into 2 doses). (You can see even more specifics on drugs.com.)

My experience with bupropion (both SR and XL) has been good. But that is with mood stabilizer onboard.

I've not taken cymbalta.

Edited to add -- I've been on none, 150mg(SR) or (topped out at) 300mg, which is where I am now, on the XL.

I couldn't handle 300mg Brupopiirion(sp).
To the point of giving the wheel to my wife in Blood Mountain in Georgia.
A woman that has spend her whole life in flat, straight terrain.
I rather her killing us both that the other way around.
I didn't open my eyes in 45 minutes. She was doing bad. Really bad.
She asked, I told her I was tired and needed to sleep a little.

Good luck, Cheers.

If your doctor prescribed you that, I think you seriously need to look into finding a new doctor and getting a 2nd opinion. That sounds like a dangerous dose of Wellbutrin to take.

i've been put on Wellbutrin for a long time when my diagnosis was depression. I was on Effexor too and in me, they seemed to balance out. Maybe for a while I was on the 300 mg max dose? Not sure. I know I took 150 mg a long time. Once I got the bipolar diagnosis, I only get put on antidepressants short term if very depressed, 3-4 months maximum because longer than 6 months, and I'm usually going manic.

I've been on Wellbutrin and I've been on Cymbalta, but I have not been on the two together. Neither med helped me at all, but of course, everyone is different.

i remember taking wellbutrin and having a migraine for a month and ending up in the psych ward and being taken off it. i don't remember the dosage. I was on 120 mg? or was it 160 mg? **** if i know, of cymbalta at some point but it wasn't working so we changed to mother ****ing effexor. don't take that med. it's hard as hell to come off off. 4 months of reducing the dosage then crying for a few months it was horrible. I think if i remember right cymbalta is a newer version of effexor it's kinda fuzzy. i haven't done research on antidepressants in a long time cause I haven't been on them since 2010. the site crazymeds used to have good info on all the psych meds, not sure if it's still a good source for info, haven't had to look up meds in a while. also technically there's an FDA limit for meds and an actual limit for meds, like I'm on geodon and the FDA limit is 160 mg but I take 280 mg. You can actually go up to 330 mg. I used to take 320 mg. Idk if I'd go for a new dr, maybe just voice your concerns to her and see what she says. If she doesn't listen then go find a new dr. good luck.
