Hello all, for the individuals who don’t work what do you do all day? I’m struggling to find things to do and it’s depressing me...

Yeah I’m currently job searching but like you don’t have many ideas unfortunately.
Thanks for this!

I use to live in Nashville TN there I attended a morning support group (MH). I also attended a quilting class that met once a week. I attended a twice a week ceramics class. I would also have doctor appointments sometimes. Now I live in Oklahoma and I have found a place that offers ceramics classes. School just began so I’m trying to get my daughter settled before I enroll. There are no morning support groups here. I had a Y membership however that became expensive. My complex does have a 24 hour gym so I do have that available.

I am on the computer a lot, do chores, errands, play with my pet, go to appointments, sometimes write a little, and cook. It seems to take up most of my day. I am hoping to find a very very part-time volunteer opportunity soon. It's been difficult getting myself to make that next step.

I used to work 40-60 hours per week before my first hospitalization. After some hospitalizations I went back to that job part-time 20 hours per week. Once I managed to get back to full-time, but after a while it became too much. My boss tried to give me all kinds of accommodations, including working from home twice per week, but I still struggled. I definitely do want to return to work someday, but I honestly can't imagine ever being able to safely work full-time and do everything else, as well. It's just too difficult to imagine. i I have no idea how I managed long ago,`and I've never had kids and won't. I drank a lot in the past. That seemed to help a bit, but then it turned against me.

You could join meetup.com for social events. Check out your local library for events. Just came back from French Club and Knitting Club at the library. A lot of the stuff at the library is free or really cheap. You could also join a health club for weekly Zumba dance classes if you like to dance. Don’t think of it as excercise. Think of it as a dance class. You can do low energy moves instead of the high exercise dance movies. It’s usually an hour a week but with travel time you can pass a lot of time with Zumba dance.

When I was out of work, as well as trying to cope with my own problems I was looking for work and had to help care for a disabled sibling as well

Pets, if you like them and you're in a position to have them. Dogs take the most time because they have to be walked and exercised (You get lots of love back). Cats are the easiest furry pets. Actually rats make great pets if you're prepared to clean a cage, but most importantly give them a lot of attention outside their cage every day. Really, they like to be petted and they'll even learn their names and apparently mazes you could set up with blocks.

Birds have the cage problem again and they're not cuddly, but they are entertaining. Aquariums take up a surprising amount of time but it's a fun hobby to get into. A goldfish in a bowl doesn't count.

I am heavy into politics--reading and watching and bemoaning things on the phone. I can't say that it's a happy place to hang out these days, but it uses up a lot of time. As someone said the library usually has things going on and it's filled with murder mysteries among many other things.

If you`re so inclined you could do something creative like arts and crafts. There are all sorts of projects you can find online.

Wish I could say I have an active daily life but I don't. Not yet anyway. I have gone 2 years with depression among other more severe issues that I have yet been to see a doctor for. As of today, however, I have set up an appointment so that's the first step for me. I used to have a very happy active life 2 years ago but was turned upside down in one day. How things can change our lives forever.

I have a rich and varied online life. In addition to my blog, I moderate a couple of forums, visit several others including PC, and spend a lot of time talking to my friends via Facebook and Messenger. I also play with our four dogs, read some, do a little housework and watch TV, as well as spend time with the family (my son, his husband, and his mother-in-law). I don't have my own car, so I have to use one of the family vehicles whenever I need to go somewhere or take the mother-in-law to the doctor (fortunately, she's also a good friend to me). That's not always easy because the guys both have jobs, but somehow we always manage to make it work.

It's not a bad life at all. I really wish I was able to work some, but my short-term memory loss and difficulties with attention span make me pretty much unemployable. Living on disability payments alone isn't easy!

I usually either

- stay on here for as long as possible (like what else can I do?)

- watch tv (I always seem to have weeks of stuff to catch up on)

- listen to music

- write my stories

- play trivia

- go to the park and play on the swings (yes I am a big kid at heart!)

- cook

- read

- shopp

- do things around the house

- continue that cycle until the day is up

My parrot is very affectionate. He kisses my often and we talk to each other. Often he's on me holding my finger with his foot for up to 20 mins. When he looks at me his does with love.
Thanks for this!

I do housework and work out daily. I also spend time with photography and music. There's lots of open source (free) programs for photo editing and music. I have a good camera, but even a phone camera would work.

I spend a few dollars a month on online classes and the authors have Facebook groups.

I write poetry and short stories. I also have a blog. Lots of companies offer blog space for free.

Some stuff has a learning curve, but that's what keeps my brain going.

Good list, I like this one

I don’t play on the swings, but I do have Lego

(I had no bricks as a cub and the parental units were very financially “well off” ..)

I used to like shopping but not so much now

Maybe I’ll try some shopping online

Reading - yes

And music

A cactus plant and a pansy seedling
