I was sitting in my living room and noticed it getting windy. I live on the 2nd floor. My phone went off and I looked at it and it said "National Weather Service - Tornado Warning -Seek shelter immediately. I didn't have time to the downstairs apartment and get in the basement so I grabbed my dog, cat, and went in the bathroom in the shower and shut the shower door. The wind was loud but then it sounded like a train coming and everything shaking, my cat was screaming, my dog trembling, and me panicking. After 10 or 15 min it was somewhat calm and I walked out of the bathroom and looked out the window and someone's roof had flew off, there was a tree on a car, just crazy. But the windows were blown out in my living room and all my books, $1,000 worth are soaked. My carpet is soaked, my couches are soaked. I don't have enough money to buy new things. My mom tried to come pick me up but there's too much debris in the road. The tornado happened in my little town 1 hour and a half ago. I feel like crying, then I feel out of it, then I feel chest pain and anxiety. My bed is soaked, my blankets, everything. What am I going to sleep on tonight? I hate my life right now. Also, no electricity! I'm writing this from my phone. Fml

I am so, so sorry that you and your pets had to go through such fear and devastation. Yes, you are alive, but clearly not "okay". I have no experience with tornadoes, but plenty with the wildfires this summer. There will be help set up (there might be, already) for you and for your dog and cat. Is there anyone at all that you can stay with? I know that can be very complicated with pets. This is the kind of situation I wish I could do more about. Please keep us posted, bewise - I will be checking for your posts.

Well my mom can't come get me right now because of the debris in the roads and she has no electricity either and her home in not in good shape. I walked outside and the duplex I live in is in good shape. It doesn't look like anything wrong except the windows in my living room and bedroom. The downstairs neighbors place looks fine except a cracked window. I am better off here than at my mom's place. She lives out in the country so I will get electricity again b4 she does.

That blows! (Ba dum bump) You must be just north of me. We got some trailing rain and wind, but no cyclones. I’m really sorry your stuff was ruined. I’m glad you’re safe though.

Still no electricity. I am going to go to sleep. I'm exhausted. I'm sleeping on a sort of dry couch with a wet blanket. Ugh.

Grateful you're safe! Things will leave our lives at times, without our control. But, they're just things. There will be funds to help, but you'll have to find out when and where
Thanks for this!

A family member in Wisconsin where they apparently had some major flooding posted a thing from a state representative to call 211 if you have water damage. I don't know where you are but it's worth a shot if you haven't been notified of other resources.

Yikes!!!!! I'm so sorry for this ordeal for you -- how scary!! I'm SO glad you and your furbabies came through in one piece!! Hugs!Hugs!Hugs! I hope you are able to restore things with relative ease.

Try BeyondtheRainbow's advice. 211 can be very helpful with letting you know about resources. Also, what is your apartment complex/company/manager doing?

(Gotta tell ya, your experience sure made me think about how I dropped my renter's insurance... )

Please do keep us posted, ok?

I’m just seeing this....I hate this happened to you. Do you have renters insurance? My complex requires all tenants have $100,000. Try calling the United Way and the Redcross
