And, have you been checked for an obstruction? You mentioned IBS, I'm assuming you've been tested for IBD (crohn's or ulcerative cholitis). If not, you really should and obstructions can be part of that.
Nope, don't drink coffee or any kind of diuretic. Don't like coffee, tea, soda, or beer, to name a few. Too sweet, bitter, or bubbly. I have to put tons of sugar in coffee to make it tolerable, but I still don't like the flavor. So, I prefer regular ol' H2O, with the occasional milk (and even then, I'm not a huge fan of milk).

Never tried elevating my feet, but there is nothing in front of the toilet. I'd have to find something clever to put up, but I could try that.

And no, I don't really walk. I did it last week, but now that there have been bear sightings here, I'm deathly afraid of walking unless I go to the gym.

And yeah, I don't have Chron's or ulcerative cholitis or gluten intolerance. Had that tested a while back... years ago.

Ugh, It sucks. I don't know if I have obstructions/blockages/impactions, but I kinda doubt it. I think I just have a slow intestinal track now that my meds have slowed down the movements.

I forget if you tried myralax?

my client who was severely constipated started taking a spoon full of it and it works for her.
I take mag oxide daily2-3 caps depending upon how I feel.

Yeah, I've tried miralax before. It gives me bad diarrhea. I take only 1 spoonful and I'm in the bathroom for a long time.

I've never tried magnesium oxide. I'll put that on my list of things to try. Thanks!

My meds give me constipation as well. I find loading up on warm prune juice, apples, and watermelon help. I drink coffee too, but I know you just said you aren't a coffee drinker

Ok, sooo... No poop so far. It damn sucks.

I've noticed that I pee every 5-15 minutes after drinking water, which means no pee is being absorbed into my colon. Maybe this is partially why I can't poop. The pee is clear.

Does anyone else have this problem?

In order to become regular, it can take longer-term lifestyle changes.

If you are very "backed up," you may need an enema to start the movement.
You could try Fleets, with the disposable bottle. You can find this at most drug stores, if not at your local supermarket.

I hope things start moving and you feel better soon!

There is a juice called Plumsmart that is like prune juice but tastes better and works better. It is expensive, at least it is here, but it does help.

I think WC is right and you're going to need to do a suppository or enema to get things started. Those never work for me so when it is that bad I drink 1/2 bottle of magnesium citrate (cherry tastes a lot better than lemon) and that works. You'd need to do that on the weekend though or be able to work from home or something; it can take a while to stop working.

I'm not so keen on the idea of doing an enema. I know that magnesium citrate makes me s*** for 3 days straight, but it may be my only option

But what's interesting is that everything always gets "stuck" in my lower left abdomen at a very specific spot whenever I'm constipated. I can always feel it. It's currently been stuck in that spot for days without moving.

Idk if I should go to the ER or wait for a GI appt. But even still, prior to these meds, I never had that problem at all of getting stuck at a specific spot. It's just worse this time since it's not moving for days.

Thanks for your replies

Prunes. Pure, unadulterated prunes.

A change of diet if that is okay with your doctor might help. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies gives more bulk. Broccoli is easy to cook. I get the crowns so I do not have to deal with the stems. Bring 1/2 inch of water to boil in the bottom of stainless steel pot and then put in broccoli crowns. Cook 5 minutes after come to boil again and turn down to medium or medium high heat. Serve with butter or salad dressing or hollandaise sauce. Should be just a little tender. If already soft fill pot with cold water and cooking will stop.

Yogurt helps the gut a lot and can turn things around.

Whole grains help as well.

Drink lots of water in the morning. That helps

Exercise or yoga or stretching.

simply walking can "massage" your intestines/colon and can help with bowel movements.

A multi-pronged approach will likely be most helpful.
Exercise, diet, fiber, water, etc.

Thanks for all of your advice.

I manages to do a BM yesterday after much effort (TMI, I know).

I'm taking miralax for now until my GI appt, which is on Nov 20. Miralax gives me bad diarrhea, but it's better than being stopped up.

I'm convinced that I have a pee problem as well, but I'll have to address that with the GI specialist. Stool softeners did not put any water into my colon and I think it's because of the pee issue. So maybe miralax might not work either this time around either since it's also supposed to draw water into the colon.

I can't really massage the narrowed area of my colon. It doesn't work for some reason. "Stuff" was stuck in the same spot for days despite massages. No movement whatdoever.

I am eating more fiber to be safe, and I need to exercise more to keep things "moving."

If it happens again, try inserting a few firecrackers. Kind of like fracking.

I stew about 15 prunes and refridgerate. Then in separate bowl mix 3 Tbsp chia seeds with 1 cup of milk (I also add a few pumpkin seeds and a teaspoon of cocoa powder. Mix well. Mix a couple times before bed. .
Next day in my oatmeal I mix in about 1/3 of stewed prunes and 1/3 chia mix.
I eat it every day for breakfast. Occasionally throw 1/3 cup original fibre one in there too. It’s a big bowl of mush but I actually enjoy it. Then drink lots of water in the day.
