The basics: bipolar 2 diagnosed 20 years ago. Currently on 450mg Wellbutrin, 20mg celexa, 1000mg depakote which I've been on for more than a year.

Recently, say the last month or two, I've been feeling pretty good. I've been exercising more, moved somewhere with more sunshine, and quit drinking for the most part (not intentionally, just my best friend quit drinking so our socialization is different. Before that I might have a few drinks 2-4 times a month).

Some days I'd actually say I feel really good. So good, that if I feel any better I'd worry about impending hypomania. Most days, I just feel good.

I've got a full time job as a server/assistant restaurant manager. I work 40-45 hours a week. When I get up and going, I have energy, I'm in a good mood, I get things done. However, days when I don't have to work until 4pm, it's not unusual for me to sleep most of the day. I may wake up, have breakfast, but then lay down again and sleep a few more hours. It makes it difficult to keep up with housework and errands.

I try to be very good about sleep hygiene because I know how it can affect my mood. Not to mention, it's frustrating that I have the desire to do laundry or whatnot but I just feel so groggy and lethargic sometimes.

Does anyone have similar experience? Or advice on how to get myself up early and to stay up?

I'm pretty good on a schedule. I try to get up between 8-10 am and usually go to bed between 11-1. But like today, I went to bed last night around 1. I didn't sleep very well, which is unusual, but I got up at 11:30. Had breakfast, checked Facebook etc. Then I laid down again and slept until 3. I actually called into work (which I don't do often) then slept until 8pm or so. I'm awake now, but I guarantee that if I got into bed I could easily fall asleep.

I need a lot of sleep. 10-12hrs. Any less and I can feel an episode lurking. I discussed this with my t and she said that some of her patients do require a lot of sleep to feel well.

I drink coffee in the mornings to feel normal. usually 2-3 cups. then I have more in the afternoon at 2-3 pm for a quick pick me up.
my alarm is set for 7;30 but when I have a 10am appointment then I don't set the alarm and just wake up naturally.
maybe you just need more sleep?
