Sorry for so many posts lately, but I've been having kind of a crap week. I'm either in a mixed or depressed episode. I can make it through the daytime but 6-9pm hits and I'm a mess. Desiring to self-harm, cry, scream, feel like I just want to escape my own skin.

I thought it might be a medication issue, more specifically the timing thereof. I take 50 mg lemotrigine when I wake. Then, an hour before bed, I take 50 mg. lemotrigine, 900 mg lithium, and 10 mg. valium. Should I take one of these meds slightly earlier to prevent the night time meltdown?

Yes my mood takes a dive every day almost to the dot at 3pm.

It’s worth trying and seeing if changing the timing helps.

I’ve found playing with the timing has been helpful. My Seroquel is divided over x4 doses and this gives me the most stability. I also go for a walk mid afternoon.

Do you mean BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and/or BD (Bipolar Disorder)?

My depression gets worse at 2 or 3 pm and continues through bedtime. I am making med adjustments.

I hope you and your pdoc can figure out how to get some relief soon.

I'm assuming you mean bipolar disorder, whose acronyms are most commonly BPAD (Bipolar Affective Disorder) or just BP, more often used. As mentioned above BPD is the acronym for Borderline Personality Disorder.

I have bipolar disorder. My experiences in terms of my worst/toughest times of day have really varied, but when I do start having certain times of the day worse than others it is usually consistent for a while. I will say that when I've had such issues, mornings are more often on the low energy/low motivation or slightly depressed end. When afternoons and/or evenings are my issue, mood elevation (euphoric or agitated/mixed) is often my problem. Taking my Seroquel XR seems to help the latter, but I don't take it until 7 pm. Sometimes a normal mood or low"ish" morning slowly escalates. By usually 3 pm I can be quite "up".

the thing about nights is that their are a lot less distractions, so you're more likely to struggle

during the day you have cars on the road, children coming home from school, birds singing, people laughing, etc etc, and at night all that distracting stuff is halved- that, at least for me, is the reason why nights are harder for me (she says, even though she's a total nightowl and prefers nights)

I feel worse at night too. My mood starts to dip around 5 or 6. Bedtime is the worst for me. That`s when I mostly get panic attacks and my racing thoughts get worse.

Nights usually get worse around 9 PM. I often feel a lot better if I am with my fiancee, but yeah, nights suck which is rough because they are also the only time I feel like I can be productive creatively and I usually work an evening schedule at a job I'm not exactly fond of. It's always great getting off work at 11 PM and usually having to call and wake up your SO because your brain is scaring you.

When it's happening it's mornings for me. Not that it'll necessarily get better as the day goes on, but...

If I’m not doing well I’m just troubled by it 24/7 no difference night or day as far as I can tell.

Maybe I am wrong ... this will give me something to consider

If I am having low moods, it's going to be there at least for the day or longer, and usually on those nights, I go to bed, and try to watch documentaries to lull me to sleep.

Most other times, especially when my energy is high and I'm feeling 'on top of the world', I love the night. It's a time when I feel free. I guess for me it's the abstract comparison of the weighted anxiety blanket. I like the blanket of the night.

I like candles and lamps too. haha I'm obsessed with creating ambiance with lighting, so the dark is vital for that.

I am also mixed or heading toward depression. The later the day gets, the worse I do.
