I just had a harrowing appointment at the endocrinologist's yesterday.
They weighed me in and I had gained 30 pounds in the past 6 months. And some of my blood tests were odd. Turns out that my thyroid levels are really low.....so my psychiatrist's hunch was RIGHT and the depression I've been feeling all of that time (almost3 months' worth) is actually for a PHYSICAL reason. So why do I feel relieved? Because for once it's not in my head. I will be taking a higher dose of thyroid medicine and will be retested in 6 weeks. I see my psychiatrist in four weeks, so I can report to her that her hunch was right. You see, I'd been taking my medicine except for a two week period (when I just gave up) and I was skeptical of her raising my Geodon (but I got a little relief anyway -- my sleep schedule straightened out). I just hope that I can lose those 30 pesky pounds. |

It's great you've had testing! So many times, these things are missed.
I hope the increase in thyroid meds helps. ![]() WC

i'm glad your doc had your thyroid checked and it is a physical problem. Easier to treat than a mental one. I take a med for low thyroid.

So glad your doctor wanted labs ..... often times we can have something off in blood testing that can be part of our daily struggles.
So happy for you !

I'm happy for you. Sometimes physical issues can cause awful symptoms. I once had B6 toxicity. OMG, talk about fatigue, tingling extremities, brain fog even worse than fibro, swelling in all my extremities. They usually don't test for it unless you end up at a specialist, which I did (a neurologist). I was taking one of those super women's vitamins from a vitamin store, drinking pre & maybe post workout shakes with B6, plus it is in cereals, other fortified foods. Took about a year before I could even take a normal one-a-day vitamin again, but at least, that was physical, easily treatable (just stop taking B6).
Wish that would have gotten rid of all my problems though... Hopefully, the thyroid medication will help you with your weight loss goals. It's a good thing you got tested.
