I don't mind some of the healthier frozen meals when I am depressed.

I also cook often with my crock pot/ slow cooker. I can put the ingredients in the pot in the morning and dinner is ready at dinner time. I've recently done a thread on this. A few people have shared recipes. (If you would like to view those, scroll down to the category named "distractions." You will see "recipes." under that, you will see "Favorite Crock Pot Recipes.") There are thousands of recipes online.

When I am feeling better, I cook and freeze batches so I have something made for meals when too depressed to cook.

just a couple of ideas for you.

I make myself burritos. It's easy to heat up a tortilla, nuke the beans, a couple of spoonfuls of salsa, sprinkle on some shredded cheese, and a handful of lettuce from one of those tubs of salad. I like to think it's a balanced meal. (I'm vegetarian, so no meat for me.)

That reminds me: Glucerna shakes with high protein.

Veggie protein shakes.

I love Campbell's chunky soups, they have meat and vegetables in them so I feel like I'm getting nutrients. I also eat frozen meals, easy mac, cereal, chips and salsa... anything that requires less than 30 seconds prep time... bonus points if I can eat it in bed

Way too many carbs and sugars. I really have to change that as I do believe it’s important what we fuel our bodies with.

My husband will put on very simple breakfasts when I truly cannot do anything in the morning. Simple = cold cereals, juice, coffee, and maybe yogurt. He won't cook anything. Sometimes he doesn't force me to get up. When I can manage to prepare breakfast it's the same as above or yogurt, fruit, and granola. Store bought pastries are also easy.

I'm home alone during the day. I rarely do anything special for myself. When depressed, yogurt, banana, PB&J, or reheated leftovers are eaten.

I am tge cook of the house. On my worst days we order delivery enough for leftovers. Other days, 30-minute meals are common. I can often manage them. Or sometimes, cooking might be the only major activity I can manage. I make it the "forced pleasure" of the day. Unfortunately, making cakes and sweets can also be done. I self-medicate on them.

I try to stick with protein shakes, healthy choice microwaveable dinners and cans of soup....easy to make things. When it’s really bad though, I either don’t bother eating or fill up on gummy bears and jelly beans. I need to address this.

Oh I forgot smoothies! You can buy smoothies in individual bottles or big jugs at the store. I like Naked smoothies. It helps with my self-loathing that so often accompanies depression to eat something that I know is good for me and I think is yummy. Making my own smoothies is way too much effort for me when I'm depressed though, I always buy store made.

Breakfast is really important. If it helps, I have established breakfast as the one consistency in my life. If I don't have it I get tired, dizzy and feel worse.

Every morning it's oatmeal with almond and peanut butter (if you don't have allergies), cashew milk, cinnamon and raisins.

If you feel bad, sometimes neutral food like cornflakes, grits, oatmeal and veggies such as lettuce or greens are good. Veggies that you don't have to cook are great too. Maybe you could try baby carrots or sliced apples.

Peanut butter. When I'm happy too.

Nothing like a well made peanut butter shake, with evaporated milk and a ton of honey to lift the spirit.
