!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Trigger!!!!!!!!!

Last week I was about to take my life. Cops came, my T called on me. If I knew for sure it would work i w ould have. My son was out of meds bc they want him to do a drug assessment before he gets treatment. He's been violent, hostile, volitale.

He missed 2 of those appts. He's out of control. Finally he had a really bizarre delusion last week and agreed to go to the hospital. They gave him meds and sent us on our way. He needed to be hospitalized. Him dealing with this psychotic disorder has been going on for 3 yrs. HE NEEDS HELP! He was smoking weed but not anymore. He's taking 7.5 mgs of Zyprexa and thinks everyone is a fascist, he wants to be 2000 lbs, all kinds of strange beliefs.

My family is no longer suppotive. They just dont know how to help. My T doesn't know what to do.

I'm tired of it. Just exhausted. ..

I can relate to much of this. My son has been homeless since May (and on and off previously) and I am the only one supporting him. Both sides of the family tried to help him but no longer do so because he hasn't followed through on so many things.

You can't help them unless they want to be helped. I am sorry your son is so lost. I am praying for my son this morning and will pray for yours. Of course, I will pray that you can find peace from all the ruminations even if the peace is only temporary. Of course, we will not really be OK so long as they are not OK. Extra Hugs.

I am so sorry you are both going through this!

Rose, please keep trying. Please don't give up.

It's late. I am not very articulate at the moment; yet, just had to respond.

I hope you will keep us updated?
Please do take care.

Lots of Love and Concern,

WC

I know we can't do much from here but lean on us if you can. I'd look into injectables for him. That way he can become a bit more stable and participate in his own recovery. 7.5 Zyprexa isn't that high. I've been on 20mg when things were bad. Does he realize his thinking is off? I would not let them take him off medication for an assessment again. I know he's an adult but do they have a mental health court that can require out patient or hospital. Also I would inquire about a case manager through your insurance, yes even medicaid has this for serverlly ill. One of my pdoc wanted me to do that so I'd have someone check my meds and get a house cleaner.

It's exhausting dealing with mentally ill adult children. I would drive my daughter to the mental hospital and basically throw her out in their waiting area. Then I would leave. That I was the best chance we had to get her admitted. I know if I was with her they would have sent her home with me. I did this 6 times in a year. I know she was not taking her meds right ,or sometimes not all.She was also doing Meth. She is doing okay now. But I'm still the one that has to make sure she gets her meds and takes them. Like you said its exhausting.

No they are REQUIRING him to get the assessment before they will help with meds. And you have to get down there at 7 am m-f to even start the process. They usually can't see the first day going down, so you have to go down again the day after. Then they will schedule an assessment. That's usually a month out. Then if they determine drug/alcohol treatment you have to do that before they will even get an you an pdoc.

It's a mess.

No he does not think his beliefs off. He's actively delusional about too many things to list. He will not change his meds.

Thanks for your insight.

I'm so sorry things are such a mess. I am glad that you are safe after last week.

I'm sorry things are that difficult with your son. The psych system is a mess, at least it is around here.

You are strong and can make it through this. Have you talked to your pdoc in regards to your meds during this time? You don't just go from suicidal to OK in a week.
