How many of you live independently and how many of you still live at home? I had to move back in with my mom after my last episode.

I'm kind of a mix. I moved out and then ten years later my mom and her husband moved in with me. We've lived together for 12 years now and most of the time it's ok. Having my mom around is super helpful - I have pets and a crazy work and school schedule. I could never have them if it wasn't for her.

I just moved out of my parents house and moved in with a coworker/friend. Still have a lot to deal with moving wise but I'm really liking the slightly independent feeling. I brought my cat and she had as ankle bitter for a dog.

I live with my youngest son and his husband. I'm on SSDI and can't afford to live on my own, nor should I for safety's sake. It's a good arrangement, I have my own space and the run of the house. I pay rent each month and buy coffee and toilet paper for the house, also occasionally buy milk and food for a few meals. My son-in-law's mother is also BP and lives here...she denies it but we all know. She and I get along amazingly well for people who are as different as we are. There's some drama in the house---let's face it, there are two gay men and two bipolar moms!---but we do pretty well after all.

I live with my husband and son without them My life would have to simplify. I would need a ton of accommodations. I'm good with money where my husband's not. Honestly I would end up in a small studio isolated and trapped.

Independently. I have no one here to support me at all, so it's a big pile of tough **** if things go sideways. Yeah, I try not to think about it, because it's scary and depressing AF.

I'm studying in a different country and rooming with a friend. It can be hard being so far away from home, but at least I can make up my own rules (with my roommate, of course).

I was living alone in the house I raised my son with my partner at the time. We made a go at having a normal life but then my illness reared it's head and eventually I also split with that partner. My son went away to uni and I got used to being on my own again. I have very few friends so it is really alone. He came back for 9 months after graduating, found a job and is now getting ready to move into a flat with a friend. So I will be back to living alone and having nothing to really structure my day.

I live with my husband and daughter. I sort of lived independently around 2.5 years in grad school in an apartment, but that was mostly living on student loans, because they pay the TAs/RAs as little as possible.
When I was hospitalized with severe panic and anxiety while in grad school, I had a pdoc tell me I will never be able to live on my own for long and likely not hold down a job either. (This particular pdoc thought I was bipolar, and I guess bipolar I at that, but the other 2 pdocs on my case thought I had major depression, so they went with treating depression. The panic disorder they all agreed on.) That is definitely grim news that should not just be told flat out like that to someone who is 24, but what do you know? My bipolar got so much worse within 2 years, and if I were ever separated from my husband, I don't think I could live on my own. I'd likely end up living with one of my sisters.

I live with my H and my mom lives with us. My H often travels for his job. This leaves my mom and me holding down the fort. It works out quite well.

I lived with my mom up until I moved in with my boyfriend. I've thought about living alone, but I just don't think I can manage it.

I live in a little house on my mom's property. So I'm alone but 300 feet away from help and we have dinner together every night so I don't have to cook much.

I live with my husband and daughter. I need my husband. He's my caregiver. I don't think I'd be able to live on my own.

I'm 24, I started living independently a little over 2 years ago. I'm happy about it. I kind of got thrown into it when my mom suddenly developed cancer which progressed rapidly and she passed away 9 months after being diagnosed. When I first got my apartment I wasn't ready mentally. I was a mess with hallucinations, paranoia, mood swings etc. I didn't live right for quite awhile. I didn't take care of anything. It took awhile but I'm doing well with it now. I cook, take care of my errands, clean, etc. I go to medical appointments, and all that stuff. I'm in college part time.

I’ve lived independently for many years. I’m now with my husband. We both have military retirement and VA, and I also have other disability pay. I’m sure I can be independent again if I need to be; it would take some creative solutions for things though. I definitely would get rid of this house and probably move to another state.
