I need some to talk to besides my T. So that I can process and get things out between sessions. I had a friend that I could complain about work to because there is a lot going on there. A very long story. But I need a lot of support around it. However the other day she basically told me to shut up and just quit my job. I was shocked and decided to block her and not talk to her anymore. But now I am left with no one.

Most of us have some very challenging days (at work and otherwise). We might share this with our friends. Sounds like your friend may have already been having a frustrating day. Any chance you will try to talk this out with your friend?

It's difficult to find support outside of therapy.

Groups are almost non-existent in my area, but PC is always here, and that makes for a good support group in and of itself!

I hope you find it helpful as well.

I understand, it is so important to have social support and people to talk to. My mental health declines when I am isolated. I am sorry your friend couldn't be more supportive. I wonder how you could get more support. Have you ever tried a support group? Are you isolated in general and can you try some activities to meet people even if it is casually?

honestly I could do with someone too

apart from this forum, I don't really have anyone- no one solid, anyway.

people that come and go, but I need someone who won't run when things get tough

Maybe your friend was overloaded and blurted out something in frustration. Or it could be that she was thinking it was genuinely good advise, or she just wanted to change the conversation. Have you been friends for a long time? Has she been a good friend?

I was wondering that too. Might be salvageable?

We have been friends for a few years. Met in a DBT group. She makes a lot of bad decision and I try to help her out but it is draining. I am at the worst period of my life right now and she knows it. I need people on my side right now because there are plenty against me. So when she said those things I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Well, pull up chair and post often. There's a really helpful bunch of people here who can listen. It isn't the same as in person but it is a human connection.

I am sorry you've lost a friend; yet, understand your need to set limits so you are not drained.

As mentioned above, we are here to seek and to lend support.
I second tecomsin's invite!

I vent here or write to process. Usually I hand write. That's why I get annoyed when they won't give you a pencil and paper in IP. Where I need it most. I sometimes burn things I don't want anyone to see but a lot of times I take it with me as a starting point.

Miguel's Mom- Is there another IP near you? Yours is so strict. Mine hands out notebooks and pens and encourages journaling. Once I filled almost 2 notebooks just trying to cope with my extreme moods.

Is there another IP near you? The one that I go to is the nicer of the two.

MM-I'm so sorry. I know that I am blessed with a really good IP (it's a mood disorder unit) but yours sound particularly awful.
