For those of you that don't know I cannot find a pharmacy that has my Buspirone in stock and I'm not doing well with that news. My head is spinning; I can't think straight at all. I'm honestly terrified. I finally get out of the depression tunnel and veer right into anxiety territory. I know I have meds that I can get through this week with the meds I have but next week I'll be out. My psych and primary doc want to get ahead of this before it really starts effecting me; I think both are two late but that's just my thoughts.

I see my Psych tomorrow and I honestly don't know what to do. He and everyone else seem to think I'm not Bipolar 2 and was just put on some garbage antidepressants to begin with and that I should probably be just fine on a Trintellix, Paxil, maybe even a Lexapro. I just don't know; I didn't respond nicely to Prozac or Effexor.

My Cardiologist has said no Benzo's for me since the impact they can play with the heart. So that is out of the question. I've already tried Vistaril and that was less than helpful it didn't even make me sleepy.

Do you all have any advice on what to do; or what you would do in this situation.

I'm so scared right now all of my thoughts are going a mile a minute; I'm not exactly hungry and I'm not really a person anyone wants to be near.

I find gabapentin really helpful for anxiety and you can dose it throughout the day as needed. I've never been on buspar so can't compare but it does help me.

i hope you find a solution soon. I know that great anxiety about needing something and not being able to find it and I feel for you.

Have you tried sourcing it via a Canadian mail-order pharmacy?
That’s how a lot of women that I know in the USA get their hormone replacement therapy.
Also phone the product’s 1800 number and ask where you can find the generic. My understanding is that the brand name has been discontinued.

Yeah there hasn't been on brand Buspar for quite so time it's rather old but it works like a charm. My understanding is that it's a Nationwide shortage and all the generic companies my primary doc has called all give him a date of April. Which makes me nervous. I like the Canadian idea but I would feel very uncomfortable doing something like that. I know it's probably done a lot to get way cheaper meds something about it just makes me feel like I'm doing something highly wrong.

Geez- I take Buspar and havent had this issue and I hope I dont. I would check the FDA drug shortage website to find out if there is really a shortage or if its a regional thing. If its truly a nationwide shortage you should talk to the doctor about weening off temporarily while you have medication left to ween off.

Gabapentin worked really well for my anxiety. I took it 3 times a day and it didn't make me tired, had no side effects that I can remember.

The shortage is a real thing. There was an article on it in the New York Times. There was, I think, only one supplier and that company stopped producing it. My pharmacy bought a lot to stockpile it and my husband is tapering down by taking 1 fewer that prescribed. We hope he can make it until a new supplier is found.

As far as I know and from what I have seen it is a Nationwide shortage. I also think you look very pretty in your profile picture. I hope you don't have to be in the same mess I am. My Psych told me Buspar isn't something that typically requires a taper. I was advised to take what I have and taper of the Seroquel.
