I have noticed I'm a lot more manic lately which I thought was all in my head. I kind of like the mania/mood swings because I'm finally able to stand up for myself however I'm also screaming and yelling a lot more (as means to get my point across) so people stop ****ing with me.

I definitely need an anti-anxiety medication added with Lamictal for sure. I go back on the 7th and will definitely be asking for something to help calm me down.

Other than that I'm set to go up to 200mg per day. I'm not sure I'll make it if the headaches continue. We'll see.
I'm on:
300mg lamictal
60mg buspar
30mg vyvanse

I'm still manic since none of them helps with that. My depression is under control a lot more and I'm able to deal with my anxiety too. Vyvanse helps a lot with my binge eating.

I have an issue with binge eating whether I'm medicated or not. I didn't know there was medication to help with it, but now that I do I'll add it to the list of things to mention to my doctors.

I believe Lamictal is helping me realize when I'm manic. At first I always thought I was in a never ending depressed state, now I see I really do rapidly cycle in and out of depression and mania all day long.

This is the most ominous thread I've ever read. I'm up to 100mg now. I can see from reading on here that it may not ever help or could allow mania.

I'm very poor at recognizing mental health problems and communicating it with urgency to my doctor. This means I could suffer now for many more years.

I'm quickly implementing self-help measures that I have years and years of knowledge that they will work for me. I know this may be the only thing that I have to look forward to and feel confident about.

Lamictal works on the depressive end of Bipolar , does nothing much for hypo/mania

Most doctors get a patient up to 200 mg or so dose and it works in the back ground hopefully keeping depression at bay.

What other meds do you take ? Antipsychotic or mood stabilizer ?

Hi ~Christina,
I've been doing some reading and that's about the same conclusion I got from the literature. I also take Abilify and Wellbutrin currently, along with Lamictal now.
Thanks for this!

Just wanted to update about the headaches. I saw both my psychologist then psychiatrist on Thursday. Pretty much I was on the wrong dose of Lamictal (75 instead of 100). Anyway upped to 100mg per day and the headaches are gone. My mood is more consistent through the day too.

My Lamictal was just increased to 500 mg/day. Hopefully this will get me out of my current depressive episode. The last time I went up on it, the effect lasted for several years, so I'm optimistic. The only thing I'm worried about is the possibility that it might make me even clumsier than I already am!
