I found out a few months ago that I have PMDD and it is hard to deal with even on the birth control Microgestn. The idea is to switch to Seasonique so I only have to deal with a period 4 times a year. They have the same amount of ethinyl estradiol so I am hoping for a smooth transition but I am still nervous. If anyone has taken Seasonique or its generic (what I have) I would love some advice on what to expect and possibly if it will help the PMDD.

Microgestin fe 1.5/30 : Norethindrone acetate 1.5mg, ethinyl estradiol 30mcg (21 tabs); inert+ (7 tabs). +contains ferrous fumarate 75mg.

Seasonique is made up of 84 pills that contain 30 mcg ethinyl estradiol and 0.15 mg of levonorgestrel. You take one of these pills each day for 84 days. The pills for the last 7 days of the 3-month pill-pack contain a low-dose of 10 mcg ethinyl estradiol.

I also have PMDD. My gynecologist suggested I could take birth control continuously skipping periods and it would possibly help. I think if I found the right birth control it could, I am super sensitive and the birth control I have tried in the past made me feel worse because I get symptoms during the month, so I have been too scared to try it again. From my understanding of talking to others with PMDD everyone responds differently to different treatments. Reddit also has a PMDD subreddit that you might find helpful. I find it quite supportive. This website also has some useful info: IAPMD. Hope you find something that helps!

It was suggested that I had PMDD by a general practitioner. With that my primary sent me to a psychiatrist where I was diagnosed finally with "Bipolar NOS". After seeing me for a while- possibly after one of my psych emergency services visits, my diagnosis was changed to "Bipolar 1". An episode of derealization sent me to the first doctor.
