even with the klonopin last night, I woke up at around 4 am with energy and a decreased need to sleep. I've been on PC since then and also, feeling agitated and restless. feeling really good and even a bit energetic. no anxiety to speak of and I did take another klonopin to bring me down but to no avail. I will be keeping an eye on it today. I do feel like taking on some chores around the house but don't want to wake my kids up. here I go again...

Hey Jedi, I'm sorry you are going through this again. I realize it doesn't actually feel bad at the moment, but we both know where it can go and I am sure that causes you some level of worry.

Do you think there is a chance the Klonopin is causing this shift? I know you are taking it as needed and it is intended for that, but I wonder if your body doesn't like the irregular levels of it in your system. It is the latest change to your regimine along with the increase in Geodon if I remember correctly.

Are you a rapid cycler? It seems like you have had a few episodes of almost full blown mania over the past few months. It has been awesome how you've been able to manage it, but it seems like a lot to handle. I'm new to bipolar, so I'm just curious. Maybe I need to watch Dr. Marks' video on rapid cycling

I do hope this resolves for you very soon. In the meantime maybe you'll have some fun burning off the extra energy. Keep us posted and you'll be in my thoughts. Sorry for all of the questions, but maybe answering will be an ok way to spend some time today. Hugs!

I hate it when that happens. Waking up early morning and not being able to go back to sleep is the worst! When that happens to me, I usually end up going to work early and just taking off early as well. It's hard to find something to do around the house at 4 am lol. Sorry I don't have very good advice - I've taken NAC before as needed, which helps with bipolar tendencies, although I find it to be kind of energizing, so probably not what you need here if you want to sleep.

I take a low dose of a daily antipsychotic, Rexulti, but when my sleep gets disrupted I add a small dose of Olanzapine at night. Since I don't take it regularly a small dose acts like a sleeping pill and solves my sleep problems. If I have a bad night's sleep the next night I take 2.5 mg Olanzapine and this will get me more than 7 hours. I stay on that for a day or two more and then try to go down to 1.25 mg...

Olanzapine is a good medication for me but unfortunately it makes me prediabetic if I take it all the time.

yeah, fern46, I am a rapid cycler unfortunately. I definitely recommend Dr Marks! She did a great vid on rapid cycling. I do think the new med regimen may be wreaking a bit of havoc on my system. I may not be totally adjusted to it yet. I'll give it another week or so and see where I'm at. I'm a bit more stable since I first wrote the post. I took my daughter to work and now I'm watching King Kong on blu ray. finding ways to keep still and focused on something. I do have extra energy but also feel very un-rested (mixed state?). they can be indeed very unpredictable...

I will definitely keep everyone posted, fern46, and thank you always for your support and concern!

I feel you, pacman. I have already started to burn some extra energy and since I'm a rapid cycler, I get tired and wired at the same time. At least I took my daughter to work and got that over with, now watching a movie trying to keep my butt still in my seat while I'm itching to do some work on the yard or the house all while being exhausted as heck. I know it's mania and my wife doesn't want me making any decisions, going anywhere or calling anyone while I'm like this. she is my crisis hotline lol. I'm hanging in there for now, pacman! I'll keep you posted and thanks for reaching out! appreciate it!

My PDoc actually considered Olanzapine. He decided on the klonopin instead for the bad anxiety and panic attacks. He was also worried about pre-diabetes since a few of my past A1C tests came back a little high. But they normalized as of last blood work. I will bring it up again when I see him next. He also increased my night-time geodon by 20 mgs. we'll see how that works. thanks for reaching out tecomsin!

feeling very mixed at the moment. not feeling well at all. watching a movie and drinking tea and water. took a geodon and lamictal to see if it will even me out a bit. going north and south between feeling depleted but very wired at the same time. these are the worst. tempted to take another klonopin but that would be my limit for today and I may wait until tonight. my Wife is getting me some unisom to take as well to see if I can double up and get some much needed sleep. anyway, I'm watching Revenge of the Sith, so it's not all bad lol

She is really good. I watched her video on why meds cause weight gain. It makes so much sense now why I had to take more drastic measures go get the scale to move. I hope she can help you somehow tonight!

I'll have to look her up. I don't think I have ever seen any of her work.

A resource I like a lot is: www.psycheducation.org
I have learned a great deal from the doctor there.

Jedi, I hope you are feeling better today?

Fern46, It's so nice to have you around!

Hi Wild Coyote! yes, I am feeling a bit better today, thank you! did get some sleep. just a bit mentally sluggish but it will pass. took my meds and had breakfast. I took some over the counter sleep aids and skipped the klonopin.

Dr Tracy Marks is awesome. so down to earth and her vids are very informative and insightful. hope to get a chance to watch them!
