I just wanted to share something I've learned from people online...

My biggest issue in general is motivation, regardless of mood. So, someone on Reddit taught me a "5 things" rule: when you're feeling discouraged with anything, do 5 things. For example, pick up 5 things off the floor, or "brush your teeth, clean a plate, throw away a napkin, comb your hair, and cut your nails." Just 5 simple things, or even 5 big things. But 5 things nonetheless. All you have to do is 5 things. Once you're done with those 5 thinfs, take a break and pat yourself on the back because you did GREAT! It's not about WHAT you accomplished, but the fact you've accomplished SOMETHING.

Good Morning, Blue!

Thanks for sharing this! I think it's a great idea!

I find, when I am experiencing some feelings of "inertia,"the very first step to break that feeling is crucial. Taking this to include 4 more tasks would truly get me heading in some helpful direction!

I promise I will give this an honest try whenever I am feeling some "inertia" toward every task and toward life, in general!

Thanks again, dear friend!
As always, my very best!

This is a really great way to frame doing something in the moment. Your suggestion isn't overwhelming and yet it can prove to be significant depending on what you choose to accomplish. Thanks for this!

this is great, though for me it will have to be the 6 things rule because I can't work with odd numbers.

I have always felt that anyone can do 15 mins of something no matter how we feel.

So I set a timer for 15 mins. And do something like wash a sink full of dishes, or fold a couple baskets of clothes, towels whatever. Walk through say the living room and pick up items that don’t belong , put them away.

It’s just Amazing what can be done in 15 mins. Mentally knowing that timer will ding or phone alarm goes off and you can just stop doing anything helps people to just do something , anything.

For many I have told them about it. It often turns into a game.

I like the idea of the 15 minute game, thanks for sharing. Thanks blue for the 5 thing rule, too. I'll also have to try that.
Thanks for this!

Thanks. I definitely see the value in this. Maybe we can add a new twist to the game by combining it with the 5 things rule. New challenge: complete 5 things in 15 minutes
Thanks for this!
