When do you finally say "OK, I'll call her up and see what she says"?

I guess when I feel unable to get out of my mental state on my own for a period of time and feel very unwell. I guess I go to my therapist for that first, though. Or, like I just did, if I feel I need additional information about diagnosis/treatment and want their professional opinion. What about you? Are you wondering if you should call at the moment?
Thanks for this!

If it's bothering you to much I would call. I have a list of extreme situations that I am suppose to call. If I refuse to someone else is suppose to call for me. I'm still not good at that list. My pdoc would like to hear from me a lot more but I'm working on it. Usually I call when I can no longer function.

Yeah I agree if it's bothering you doesn't hurt to call. They can help you sort out if you need something like a med change or can wait till you see your T.

I call my pdoc as soon as I’m not well. I figure it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I call my pdoc when my symptoms worry me. Sometimes my parents call him when I don’t want help or don’t believe I can be helped.

If I feel like I can't wait until the next appointment with the pdoc, I will call and ask for an earlier appointment. If I can't sleep, I consider that an emergency.

I don't see a therapist, so can't speak to that.

I call when I'm told I need to or if I'm aware of my symptoms and I'm nonfunctioning.

I'm really bad about calling. My pdoc reminds me at every office visit that I'm supposed to call the minute I feel the least bit unwell, because I tend to get very bad very quickly (in both directions). I haven't had much in the way of mood swings in a while now so it's a moot point at this moment in time, but of course it can all change in the blink of an eye so I'm always wary. But knowing that I'm reluctant to call when I'm in trouble, my son has my written permission to intervene if necessary.

BipolaRNurse, I am glad your son is able to help if needed. Do you know why you don't call? Is it lack of insight into your symptoms, or that you somehow feel bad calling or "bothering" them?

Dr. W. is adamant about me calling her for the least little anything to do with mental health/meds. When I didn't call her, but made even slight changes in my meds she flipped out on me so severely I was an inch away from finding another pdoc. I mean, she really lectured me. So now I call her, even if it's in between appointments that are a week apart. She seems happy about that. Maybe she's lonely, or something

My therapist...I've called her twice during a year of therapy. Both of those were situations in which I was extremely upset, because I felt that she had either rejected or unfairly reprimanded me. I was glad I called, both times, because our communication smoothed things out.
